Nyjer vs. Michaels

I know you all would rather see Pearce than either of them, but which one would you rather have playing right now?

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 26, 2008 7:22 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Given that choice

I have no problem with a platoon.

by Hitman Easler on Aug 26, 2008 7:23 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hah!

Nyjer is making Z sooooo mad

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 26, 2008 7:24 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wonder if Minky

can get under Z’s skin as well as he can the Big Unit?

I lose...

2 coolers and a wall.

by Thunder on Aug 26, 2008 7:35 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

hahahahahah

zambrano is an idiot

by Spooner on Aug 26, 2008 7:35 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Snell is pitching inside tonight!

And it’s resulting in strikeouts, holy crap!

by camoseven on Aug 26, 2008 7:37 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He's also

up in the strike zone most of the time.

by Thunder on Aug 26, 2008 7:39 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Snell

is going to get crushed if he keeps leaving balls up like this. Strike Three on Lee should have been hit about 400 feet

by patmeares on Aug 26, 2008 7:40 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Zambrano

should bat clean-up. .361 with 4 homers only hitting every fifth day

by patmeares on Aug 26, 2008 7:42 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

58 pitches through 3 innings

looks like bullpen for the 6th inning.

by Thunder on Aug 26, 2008 8:06 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not very good for Snell there,

Two awful looking breaking balls that missed high and away, he also missed with his fastball twice

by houksyndrome on Aug 26, 2008 8:16 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

bullpen is going

to be in the game earlier than anticipated.

by Thunder on Aug 26, 2008 8:32 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Holy crap

its just the end of the 4th inning.

SLOOOOOW game

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 26, 2008 8:43 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hell just froze over...

Freddy walks for the first time since June 15th.

by Thunder on Aug 26, 2008 9:07 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Streak ends at 204

consecutive plate appearances without a walk by Freddy.

by Thunder on Aug 26, 2008 9:15 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wow

The Lite Bucs chase Zambrano after 4 and a third. Men on second and third with one out.

i can't believe

the Pirates haven’t already rolled over

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!

no matter how bad

this team looks…and is…the one thing they won’t do is roll over

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 26, 2008 9:25 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nyjer Morgan

Gets the softest looking hits ever. Seriously, how did he manage to get 15 bloops to fall in?

by shayborg on Aug 26, 2008 9:17 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Two outs, tie game, runner at third,

best hitter at the plate…does Cotts really think Morgan is going to run here?

Damn it

Right to Lee guarding the lines…

People are going to cite that bunt as evidence

that Nyjer Morgan is good for the rest of the season, and it is going to get really annoying.

Will simply remind them what he did after he reached.

JESUS CHRIST

How do you steal 44 bags in the minors and still not learn how to slide???

by shayborg on Aug 26, 2008 10:08 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

When you start a head first slide

4 feet from the bag…you are going to overslide almost every time.

by Thunder on Aug 26, 2008 10:10 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

This really needed to be Capps here

The good part of the lineup is coming up THIS inning not NEXT inning. But gee, he’s the closer, he can’t pitch NOW!

by matskralc on Aug 26, 2008 10:18 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

what, is this

4 fucking walks?

Russell better have a really F*$%&ing good reason for not bringing in Capps for this inning. Something along the lines of “HE’S DEAD”.

by matskralc on Aug 26, 2008 10:24 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

MY GOD

so now this MORON is going to bring Sean Burnett into the game. Oh, this ought to be just GRAND.

by matskralc on Aug 26, 2008 10:27 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You think you're pissed, Hansen?

The rest of us didn’t get paid more money than we’ll ever see in our lives to watch that.

by matskralc on Aug 26, 2008 10:29 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

This most disturbing thing about the Hansen performance was how it looked like he really didn’t have an interest in throwing a strike at all. There was this very weird ineveitability to the whole thing. Kind of like, “I am just going to throw the ball any dang place until I get taken out of the game”. That piece of $#%^ performance really put a sour taste in my mouth about him.

by EStreet on Aug 26, 2008 10:30 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

What the hell?

Et tu, Freddy? How the hell did you not get that?

by matskralc on Aug 26, 2008 10:31 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'd love to see a replay

The original shot didn’t show it until it was past him

by DITO on Aug 26, 2008 10:32 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Because he was drawn in – which was a pretty ridiculous decision considering the wildness of this game. If he’s back, it’s a DP with a run scored. Not a bad outcome considering the train wreck this game has become.

by EStreet on Aug 26, 2008 10:33 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

burnett about to take one for the team

assuming that Davis is N/A after pitching last 2 days…Capps is all that’s left in the pen.

Man

and I was read to pat Burnett on the ass

the most rest at Indy may be up here tomorrow for long relief.

by Thunder on Aug 26, 2008 10:42 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The Worst Part

All you hear from the Cub announcers is them kissing the Cubs’ asses. “Its their approach”, “So much confidence that they can get it done”, but suspiciously lacking the “Well the Pirates just suck, and the Cubs should be getting killed with those 3 errors.”

First question in the post game press conference should be...

Reporter…John, how do you feel about the execution of your pitching staff??

JR…I’m all for it.

by Thunder on Aug 26, 2008 10:53 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Ummm....just to be silly...

who is going to pitch the top of the 10th?

by Thunder on Aug 26, 2008 10:58 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

or LaRoche

nate can pitch though. i was at spring training when he was challeneged by teammates to hit spots on the outfield wall from a pitching distance and winding up and stuff. He was money

Let's see...

2 Bautistas…2 LaRoches…and now 2 Chavezes. Jesse to be brought up from Indy for Wednesday’s game…per DK’s blog.

http://community.post-gazette.com/blogs/pbc/archive/2008/08/27/jesse-chavez-heading-to-pittsburgh.aspx

Likely moves…Dumatrait to 60 day DL to open a spot on the 40 man…Hansen to Indy.
