Pirates To Promote Jesse Chavez

This is nifty news. Today, reliever Jesse Chavez will join the Pirates for the first time. I've been lobbying for Chavez for a while now, not because he's going to be the next Francisco Rodriguez or anything, but because it struck me as strange that he had to stay in Indianapolis despite good numbers while everyone else in the organization got a chance to stink it up in the bullpen. There's no reason to think Chavez can't be better than a number of guys who were in line ahead of him.
