The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!

Glad to see
JR has both Pearce and Moss in the lineup. He needs to do this pretty much every day. PBC knows what Micheals and Minky can do as OFs. They need to get a better picture of where Pearce and Moss are so that they can figure out where they are going to be in 2009.
And September 1 they can shut down Maholm and give his starts to McCutchen or Olendorf (“Mr. Wonderful”). Or start them both and sit down Snell—but put him in the pen and save his last option for 2009. And Gorzo can come back up for Duke or Herrera.

Gorzo has slowly been showing signs of improvement
I’m glad they’ve been going about this the correct way… it’s more like a rehab assignment than a punishment, which is exactly what he needed.

Unfortunately the mojo of Michael Felix
may be underground somewhere.
So far, for Hickory…1.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 HR, 5 WP.

Think about Duke last year or Gorzo the first part of this year.
and move it to class A.
Last year at Hickory and State College…
61.1 IP, 69 H, 68 R, 50 ER, 69 BB, 68 K.
He’s a little better this year at Hickory…
74.1 IP, 56 H, 39 R, 33 ER, 51 BB, 52 K.
So, for those math challenged…
135.2 IP, 125 H, 107 R, 83 ER, 120 BB, 120 K. ERA of 5.51, WHIP of 1.81

And that was before tonight
with 1.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 1 HR, 5 WP. Which didn’t improve any of his numbers.

Egad
You mean the PBC may have wasted a 2nd round pick? That’s unheard of.
In 2006, the team got Lincoln, Shelby Ford and Negrych (didn’t he build the Prime Sentinels?). So the number 2 pick has crashed and burned. For DL, it’s still a high water mark draft.

Actually, I see
the run was unearned, although Gorzo was the one that made the error on a pickoff attempt.

Gorzo now done
6+ IP, 6 H, 1 R (so far), 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 85 pitches, 52 strikes. A hit and an error by Walker to start the 7th before he got pulled.
Good news…Walker is a home run shy of the cycle through 7 innings with a bases loaded triple.
Bad news…JVB relieved Gorzo.

Lots of odd things going on in our minor league system tonight...
Altoona 1 hit through 5 innings, Negrych of course.
Patrick Bresnehan almost pulled a Felix for the Curve in relief. Not sure how he did this. 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 2 K.

In the 5th, come in with 1 out
ground out, walk, walk, ground out
in the 6th, walk, strikeout, walk, walk, single, cold shower. And a reliever that gets the last 2 outs.
