Bucs Sign 16th Rounder Wesley Freeman

The Post-Gazette reports that the Pirates have signed Florida high school outfielder Wesley Freeman, their 16th-round pick.

Freeman is one of those high-upside picks who the Bucs probably had to pay extra to get, so this is a great sign that they're taking their negotiations with other high-upside picks seriously. Perfect Game USA says Freeman has "high ceiling tools" and an "excellent speed-strength combination." Baseball America reports that Freeman has "outstanding raw power with the ability to drive balls out of all parts of the ballpark."

By the way, I deleted another diary about this because it just copied the Post-Gazette's entire report. Please don't copy entire articles, and use blockquotes when you do quote other sources.

Freeman's brother

His brother was supposed to have a good swing, but had some trouble transitioning from a crowbar to a wood bat. He ended up going back to school for theoretical physics I think.

I figured using the link and the name in the report is more than enough

It’s cool. It’s not like you were being dishonest about it or anything. But no, it’s not legal to post entire articles.

even when the writers name, web adress and everything is there… that is legal its showing who wrote the article, and its not passing it off for your own… pretty sure thats legal… but im done discussing it… carry on with the site, haha

no

the pg makes its money through ad revenues, which rely on people actually going to their site. simply copying the story and posting it elsewhere doesn’t allow them to recoup their costs (aka dejan’s salary).

besides, this is a blog for our crazy opinions and original content. dejan has his own.

Generally speaking...

...you want to summarize, and limit strict quoting to a couple of grafs at most (even for content that isn’t behind the pay wall).

It’s good practice at learning how to express yourself, anyway.

If the Fresno State pitchers are healthy,

Freeman

Obvious tools, some mechanical issues with his swing.

Kind of looks like Chad Hermansen (and I mean that as a complement, mostly).
