I don't know how...

an umpire can blow a call so bad…and JR stay in the dugout without saying a word?? Guess he’s given up too?

by Thunder on Sep 16, 2008 7:36 PM EDT reply actions

I don’t want to see balls and strikes and sh** reviewed, but how can a call like this stand, now that they have introduced a replay system???

by poorboywilly on Sep 16, 2008 7:43 PM EDT up reply actions

You mean "another" WS title is won or lost

1985.

I think it’s kind of silly to wait until something bad happens, then make a change, but that’s MLB.

by azibuck on Sep 16, 2008 9:05 PM EDT up reply actions

How about just making

the umpires more accountable for obviously blown calls??

by Thunder on Sep 16, 2008 7:46 PM EDT up reply actions

In a roundabout way they do, by rewarding them

with work in the playoffs and World Series. The good crews work them for extra pay, the bad crews sit at home.

heh

anyone see/hear about that Broncos/Chargers game Sunday??

NFL officiating at its worst,

as a Steelers fan, the more distance between them and the Chargers the better.

by ElliottBayBucco on Sep 16, 2008 7:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Horrible.

Just horrible. (and no, I’m not a Chargers fan)

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!

yes, very nearly two steps out

I would have seen if he was bobbling it or if his foot came off the bag, but neither is the case! How come this wasn’t reviewed?

by poorboywilly on Sep 16, 2008 7:39 PM EDT up reply actions

that is

if he was bobbling AFTER he picked the ball back up

by poorboywilly on Sep 16, 2008 7:40 PM EDT up reply actions

well

lowe is bringing home the bacon

Just stopping by

for a bit (studying, plus upcoming test, plus House season premiere tonight).

Looks like your average (as of late) Pirates “game”…

Yep

Though I prefer these games to the ones where the Pirates get up by 3-5 runs early and then dribble away the lead.

by WstCstBucco on Sep 16, 2008 7:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Agreed.

Instantaneous pain instead of the slow (and sometimes steady) torture that we know is coming before it hits.

Cheezus

Ump not giving Lowe the low strike much, is he?

by WstCstBucco on Sep 16, 2008 8:19 PM EDT reply actions

Little league is right

Two balls clank off infielders’ gloves. Two on, none out after two “hits”.

by shayborg on Sep 16, 2008 8:26 PM EDT up reply actions

If Moss beats that out

Minky’s out is a SF instead of out no. 3

by WstCstBucco on Sep 16, 2008 8:22 PM EDT reply actions

The fire has gone out.

I don’t even see this team playing well fundamentally. A distinct lack of hustle…Moss is a perfect example. Pretty much standing at the plate after knowing the ball was called fair. He doesn’t look like he’s a very good outfielder either, he’s played quite a few balls very poorly in the last couple of weeks.

by Thunder on Sep 16, 2008 8:32 PM EDT reply actions

Is that because

he’s not ready? Or because he doesn’t even care anymore?

I'm afraid that he's not ready...

and I’m worried that he doesn’t care.

Pearce finally gets his shot...

and goes down on 1 pitch…

A little patience in here would be appreciaed

1. Derek Lowe hasn’t walked a single batter in 7 IP tonite. For the year he’s less than 2 BB/9 IP.
It’ s not like he’s wild or anything. If you get a good pitch from him, swing!

2. Pearce has every right to be eager when he’s riding the pine 6 days out of 7. It’s not like he’s getting so many chances that he’s calm.

I’m rooting for the guy, but I’m not excusing him. He’s sucked in Pgh this year, and didn’t even have a great year in Indy. But that’s true of a lot of Pirate regulars, and they are getting scholarships galore. Pearce musta stepped on JR’s dog to be treated like this.

I know...

I’m just annoyed by the fact that like every Bucco seems to have the same… approach, I guess.
Or most of the Buccos, at least.

Bases empty

2 outs in the bottom of the 9th.
4 runs down.

… are going to speak with the umpires about becoming more accountable.
