Luis Cruz

welcome to the majors.

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

Didn't end well though.

Rivas/Cruz

not exactly an ideal middle infield.

they’ve already missed two outs this inning

Moss & Luigi!!!

Wow, this middle infield is terrible

Luis Cruz kind of stands around and forgets to cover second base on Harang’s awful bunt. LaRoche fields quickly, looks to second where he would have had an easy out if Cruz had been there, and then throws over to first. That could have been a DP.

Snell walks and Nyjer Morgan doubles off the wall

To lead off the inning against Aaron Harang. Wow.

These stupid

Reds announcers have guys from the Blue Jackets and they sound like complete idiots because neither know anything about hockey

by northsidenotch on Sep 2, 2008 7:54 PM EDT reply actions

You think it's possible

we can get Harang’s ERA to get above Snell’s by the end of this one?

by northsidenotch on Sep 2, 2008 7:55 PM EDT reply actions

Two on none out...

Luigi puts a charge in one, but it’s a little bit off the end of the bat and dies short of the track in left. It’s good to see him hitting the ball with some authority though.

Charlie ---------- Gaga Over Mientk ...

Charlie - I was just referring to all of the irrational contributors who feel that Mientk… is a vital cog to the Pirates’ future. This was NOT directed at anything you ever said when, actually, I don’t even know where you stand on Mientk.

I didn’t care or anything, I’m just not much of a fan. At least not for a team in the Pirates’ situation.

I think Eye Chart

wins extra fans because he’s contrasted to the rest of the team (mostly JR though). He shows emotion during games, he shows up (like when Black Hole stunk, etc.), etc…

Small things.
Plus… given the “vets” we’ve seen recently, Eye Chart was a welcome change. I think.
In the fact that he isn’t overpaid, and doesn’t suck (as bad).

Maybe I’m just losing it though. 136 games in… I’m pretty sure my mind is losing it.

Snell

is really frustrated with Rivas and Cruz

by northsidenotch on Sep 2, 2008 8:21 PM EDT reply actions

Cruz sucks

He screws up another play at second as he mishandles a feed from Rivas and can’t throw over to first to complete what should have been a routine DP.

by shayborg on Sep 2, 2008 8:22 PM EDT reply actions

why

is Morgan still starting now that Pearce is here. This better not stay this way

by northsidenotch on Sep 2, 2008 8:28 PM EDT reply actions

Hey, he even *doubled* today

I didn’t know he could hit a ball that far.

by shayborg on Sep 2, 2008 8:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Because...

if we trade McClouth in the Winter we will need a starting CF. Just a thought.

by Slick1 on Sep 2, 2008 9:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Damn it

Patterson just stole a homer from Adam LaRoche. The one thing that guy can do is play defense.

by shayborg on Sep 2, 2008 8:45 PM EDT reply actions

Weird call

Russell has Luigi bunt Moss to second with none out and Rivas/Snell coming up…

by shayborg on Sep 2, 2008 9:06 PM EDT reply actions

Did Laroche...

just sacrifice for Rivas? I’m watching gameday and that’s waht it says. Can someone confirm?

by Slick1 on Sep 2, 2008 9:06 PM EDT reply actions

Sacrifice?

That’s gotta be the wrong call with a man on first, no outs and the number 7 hitter at the plate.

by WstCstBucco on Sep 2, 2008 9:07 PM EDT reply actions

The balk helped

But still a bad call by JR. Tomorrow we’ll probably hear Luigi did it on his own — he mentioned bunting in the PG as a way to maybe break out his slump. But why do it after a HR?

by WstCstBucco on Sep 2, 2008 9:09 PM EDT reply actions

Maybe with a 40 man roster

JR will be pulling all his SP an inning early. One can only hope.

by WstCstBucco on Sep 2, 2008 9:10 PM EDT reply actions

I can hardly believe Snell only allowed two runs there. That was dicey.

by Charlie Wilmoth on Sep 2, 2008 9:22 PM EDT reply actions

I'm so sick of watching PBC relievers

Can’t JR play one of the recent call-ups?

We’re getting Morgan and now Cruz shoved down our throats. But the old pen ain’t so great that JR needs to stick with it post Sept. 1.

by WstCstBucco on Sep 2, 2008 9:24 PM EDT reply actions

you mean like Marino Salas?

I would still count Beam and Hansen as the “old” pen, and after that you have Romulo….
