Around SBN: New York Giants Super Bowl XLVI Ring Unveiled

Ten Callups

The Pirates have called up ten players: pitchers Ross Ohlendorf (who will start on Wednesday), TJ Beam, Craig Hansen, Marino Salas, and Romulo Sanchez, second baseman Luis Cruz (Ty Taubenheim was released to clear space for him on the roster) shortstop Brian Bixler, corner guy Steve Pearce, and catchers Ronny Paulino and Robinzon Diaz. It'll be interesting to get our first looks at Ohlendorf and Diaz as Pirates; maybe they can be battery-mates on Wednesday.

I answered your brief comment a couple of threads down in the Boras/Ruiz thread.

Vlad - I meant Boras/CRUZ thread

I must have been thinking about that great NYC women’s marathoner, Rosie Ruiz!!!

Or perhaps former Pirate minor leaguer Randy Ruiz.

Taubenheim got released?

Didn’t he have a little potential? Or are we really that overstocked with pitchers now?

Seconded

I’m a bit confused by this as well. He doesn’t seem like a future star but a guy who can start for us a bunch of the next few years and do half decently.

I made most of my life decisions at a Foghat concert... I stand by them.

The Tytanic

has sunk. At least in Pittsburgh

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

Note to Connelly/Huntington - Let Pearce finish the season playing every day.

A quote from Moss after his 3 for 4 nite:

“At the plate, it’s just a matter of getting everyday at-bats,” Moss said. “I’ve been playing for a month now every day and getting three or four at-bats a game. That’s really starting to help out.”

Hello already….
