Pedro Alvarez Finally Signs Contact
He could sign his contract today if Major League Baseball and the players' union settle their grievance. That would be great.
UPDATE: The grievance has been settled. Alvarez has been removed from the restricted list, and Eric Hosmer has been rescued from limbo status as well. The Pirates' contract with Alvarez can now go through. There may be a press conference tonight.
Also, now the deadline can't be extended unless both MLB and the union agree. Glad that's been cleared up.
UPDATE: There's a press conference at 6:00 PM. (Thanks to Uncle Nate.)
UPDATE: Alvarez has signed his contract. Tom Gorzelanny has been placed on the 60-day DL to clear roster space for Alvarez.

New conference called by the Pirates
for 30 minutes from now.
It’ll be interesting to see what Pedro says about his role in this craziness and how he feels about his assmunch agent.
Good day.

Do you really think
they’re gonna let him talk much about that?
I predict: “I’m glad this is all behind us, and I look forward to playing for the Pirates.” or some such B.S.

Confused
Maybe I’m being thick but how does Pedro Alvarez signing a new contract end the MLBPA grievance? Or is the timing just a coincidence.
I made most of my life decisions at a Foghat concert... I stand by them.
