From DK
Pirates’ lineup: 1. Nate McLouth CF. 2. Freddy Sanchez 2B. 3. Ryan Doumit C. 4. Adam LaRoche 1B. 5. Jason Michaels LF. 6. Steve Pearce RF. 7. Andy LaRoche 3B. 8. Luis Cruz SS. 9. Barthmaier.

Padres’ lineup: 1. Will Venable CF. 2. Luis Rodriguez SS. 3. Brian Giles RF. 4. Adrian Gonzalez 1B. 5. Kevin Kouzmanoff 3B. 6. Chase Headley LF. 7. Edgar Gonzalez 2B. 8. Nick Hundley C. 9. Young.

I asked Russell why the team had not followed through on its stated plan to bounce Luis Cruz around the diamond, and he answered that injuries dictate Cruz play shortstop. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Brian Bixler.

Well, Bix ain’t showed much, has he?

Sadly

yeah.

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

Pearce!

Yep, no need to have a guy that can launch a ball like that on this team.

He didn't

even swing the bat?

bullington

A quick program note. Bryan Bullington is scheduled to start tomorrow against the White Sox in a game that could determine the AL Central pennant race (or perhaps pennant stumble is a better term).

Not only that but

it was Cliff Lee that had been scheduled to go. They say Lee has a neck injury but one is tempted to wonder if the Tribe hates the Twins for some reason.

To add a touch of the surreal, it looks like Brandon Duckworth is going against the Twins.

Now....

….it’s gonna get ugly.

Gonna get ugly??

It’s been ugly for a while now…about 16 years.

Barf....

….gets the ERA down to 10.45.

Pearce....

…another hit. I can see why Russell hates this guy. He can hit. We don’t want that.

Cruz

Looking more and more like he can handle SS everyday.

by Brakeman8 on Sep 28, 2008 12:09 AM EDT reply actions

maybe defensively...

offensively…I’m not sure he’s any better than Bixler.

Pearce

If Russell pushes Pearce out of the picture in Pittsburgh, he’ll turn up elsewhere and hit 35 dingers. I honestly don’t care if he Ks 150 times. If he can hit 35 – 40 doubles and 30+ home runs he can play for my team.

If Pirates management wants the best lineup out there...

the outfield next year will be McLouth-McCutchen-Pearce/Moss. Morgan is no better than a 5th outfielder for this team. And if they want to ice Cutch for a couple of months…then a free agent (cheap) outfielder will be signed, like Michaels.
