Steve Pearce!!
I’m officially callng off the Pearce Deathwatch,
In the 7 games since Moss went down and JR’s had to start Pearce he’s an excellent 9 for 26 with 3 HRs. Of course, this will be ignored by PBC and PG.
I know it’s a small sample size but the poor kid didn’t get the chance, unlike Morgan, to regularly start after the Nady and Bay trades.
More on Pearce
Let’s not forget that he is doing this in Petco Park. One of the best PITCHERS parks in MLB.
Plus look at how he does when getting to play nearly everyday vs. the occasion start or PH appearance. I can’t see how the PBC can ignore him starting out next year.
I’d love to se Pearce in RF, McLouth in CF and Morgan in LF until Moss is healty (the Morgan goes back to being the 4th OF) or the mystery “big bat” is signed as a free agent to play LF.
with any luck
NyjMo won’t be in black and gold next year.

Hey Now
Unless you can trick a moron GM(Has anyone hired Littlefield without telling us?) intio trading prospects for him, why not have him around as a Bench Guy? Would you rather the PBC spend more money for someone to be a bench guy on a bad team?
Yes.

No.
There are bigger needs if they’re going to spend money.

Yeah...I've been claiming for several weeks that he was being buried.
Small amount of at bats…yet Morgan’s is supposed to be paid attention to…and Pearce’s is going to be ignored. Pearce finally gets to play somewhat regularly…for the first time…and he starts producing…just as one would expect when playing regularly.
After all…what right handed power do we have?? Basically none. Most of Doumit’s HR’s have been lefty…and Nate and LaRoche are lefty. Pearce deserves to stay around.
didn't you
ask that last night, too?
Got a problem with Grabow?

Dude,
he’s 6-3, with an ERA under 2.7. One of the few bright lights in the ’pen this year.

If PBC holds on
Who gets the win? Mr. Wonderful didn’t finish 5 IP, and no RP has gone more than 1 IP,
Is it Chavez? I think it’s the official scorer’s decision.
despite
the righty-lefty matchup for dougie, i’d have liked to see Jack hit there.

from DK live game blog:
6:46 p.m.: Tyler Yates finishes with a flourish. He zips 1-2-3 in the eighth and strikes out Kouzmanoff, Headley and Hundley. Yates was scored upon once in 12 September games and — get this — struck out nine of his final 12 batters.
6:51 p.m.: Doug Mientkiewicz taking perhaps final at-bat with Pirates, one out in visitors’ ninth. Matt Capps warming up in bullpen. Still 3-1.
6:53 p.m.: Mientkiewicz singles up the middle and finishes fifth in the National League in pinch-hits with 14 in 43 at-bats.

Nice hit for Michaels
but I hope that’s his last AB for the PBC. He’s hit .228 for the year, and for a retread like him that just isn’t enough to deserve anything more than a minor league contract and a chance to prove himself in sprinig training.
there he goes.
25 HR, 85 RBI. That’ll get him that nice fat raise…

Nate Sr.
He’s been a nice spare part this season, but I agree that unless we get him on the cheap he’s got no spot on the ’09 Buccos. Thanks for the exciting moment this year.
I wonder if Nate Sr. would be willing to take a contract
that has him as something like a 5th OF or an OF down in AAA (in case of injury)…
Would that even be worth considering for the Buccos?

Plus a couple of big trades
and quite a few smaller ones.
A couple of injuries…
Lots of questions, even more questionable decisions.
And Andy LaRoche. He just needs to get away, I think. His season is one to forget.
