That`s a strange

lineup for the Bucs.

at least

andy is playing…if he would have benched him after two good games….

Pirates vs. Fogg

McLouth 6-11 2B 3 HR BB (My god sir)
Chavez 4-5 3 2B
Derg and Gomez 1-3
Nate Sr 2-2 HR
LarRoche 0-4

not really much experience here besides McLouth

I thought we were going to waste bases loaded, no outs.

reds announcer

was pointing out “mechanical flaw” in Gorzo, saying it would make it hard to get his pitches down and make them slow breaking. Granted, Chavez was pretty concerned and not only gestured at his shoulder but talked to him during the first two at bats. Funny that he proceeded to sit down the Reds…the announcer sure stop talking about how easy it is to hit his pitches.

It's early out here

so I just noticed PBC already has scored 3 runs. Phew.

Also confused why Moss (the team’s best hitter lately) is sitting down.

Nice to see Pearce though — and he’s already contributed,

It’s good for my blood pressure to see the Bucs pound Fogg in the first inning — even a AAAA lineup should crush him.

Any chance the ML can just let the PBC play its next 20 games against the Reds? Just asking.

hahahahah

Yeah, I don’t see what it’s hurting. The announcer even sounded pleased to sweep San Fran, that’s how bad it’s getting…

is 4

a fair O/U for Fogg’s IP?

Gomez

looks like a seventh-grade science teacher to me.

by Zadoras on Sep 4, 2008 1:14 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

the reds announcers

are criticizing the pirates for playing fogg with the outfield so far in. Lets see he is hitting .095 this year. That’s his fourth double…of his CAREER. .117 career hitter, i’ll play him in too.

by poorboywilly on Sep 4, 2008 1:31 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

4 IP

looks like a good over-under for Gorzo and his 88 mph fastballs too

by Zadoras on Sep 4, 2008 1:36 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

wow

that was pretty amazing. Ball (apparently) barely caromed off the foul wall before bouncing out of Pearce’s mitt, then he grabbed with his bare hand in the air

by poorboywilly on Sep 4, 2008 1:36 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

oh man that's good

fogg hurt himself tagging up, he might be done.

by poorboywilly on Sep 4, 2008 1:37 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

that's

embarrasing…votto swung and missed at three straight 89-90mph fastballs

by poorboywilly on Sep 4, 2008 1:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i'm guessing

they pinch hit gorzo to spare him the game blowing up in his face?

by poorboywilly on Sep 4, 2008 1:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Hope so!

I’ve remarked that JR seems much more willing to pull a SP in the last few days now that he so many extra spare parts in the bullpen (not that he’s actually using any of the newer guys, except for Capps).

by WstCstBucco on Sep 4, 2008 1:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

guess with nothing going

he will let Gorzewalky have one more chance…short leash I imagine.

by poorboywilly on Sep 4, 2008 1:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Some guys just can't stand success

Gorzo so wants to lose this game. His pitch count is actually higher than Fogg’s.

only one run

but 30 pitches that inning

Just got in

from Long Island (via Baltimore & Columbus, OH)….what’d I miss?

Gorzo is terrible

but so are the Reds.

We started fast but can’t get anything else going. Ramirez, I believe, 26-YO Sept callup in the reds bullpen has great changeup.

by poorboywilly on Sep 4, 2008 3:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

oh yeah

and Fogg fogged up his groin by tagging up on a sac fly that wasn’t even really close

by poorboywilly on Sep 4, 2008 3:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

looks like

We hit Fogg pretty good, but they’ve been pecking away ever since…

gonna give ’em back in the bottom half?

let's see

We’ve got
Yates (lead gone)
Bautista (never know)
Hansen (lead gone)
Grabow (usually good)
TJ Beam (i guess it’s the reds)

C) Hansen. Uh-oh.

nate

did what i’ve been used to from the other side lately—-a soul-crushing, late-inning, go-ahead homie after picking and clawing back to a tie game.

and now

hansen is doing just what he always does

Operation Shutdown Version 2.0

Can JR just let Hansen sit the rest of September? He makes Josh Fogg look good.

by WstCstBucco on Sep 4, 2008 3:29 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You Have To Question Russell ...

even bringing in Hansen to start the inning. The man cannot throw strikes.

by thegunner on Sep 4, 2008 3:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i guess at this point

Does winning/losing matter? Is evaluation worth more than a game?

by poorboywilly on Sep 4, 2008 3:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

it had BETTER be

What more is there to learn this year

about Hansen? The ERA over 8.00 is pretty much says it all.

Maybe Hansen can pitch in late innings where the team is behind by double digits. Bringing him in in the 8th where there is a one run lead is insane.

by WstCstBucco on Sep 4, 2008 3:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

For sure.

I think better draft position is worth more than wins at this point. I can’t root against the Pirates, but that 10-game losing streak wasn’t exactly crushing my spirit.

by shayborg on Sep 4, 2008 3:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Good going JR!!

Way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Guess I don’t have to post now that I thought JR wouldn’t pitch Capps 3 days in a row.

Russell Has Been Hitting The Cooler Alot Lately

Do you think he has his own personal cooler?

 What’s in it?

Maybe a liile TJ “Jim” Beam?

*Now* JR decides to manage

What a move — bringing in Nyjer to PH for Luigi. Damn — that’s some fine game management skills being displayed there. Let’s make sure we don’t let Luigi have a chance to continue some clutch hitting he’s shown the last 2 games.

(See THCurve’s post above about this being time for evaluation. What he said.)

Oh boy

Tying run at the plate. Can Doumit save JR’s bacon?

Oh boy

tantilizing

moss on for the clutch situation

Managing up a storm

Is this 5 PH in a row??

Wish JR had put 1% of this effort into picking pitchers in the bottom of the 8th.

by WstCstBucco on Sep 4, 2008 3:50 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

nope

moss was double-switched earlier

to the winning streak.
