Good for Morgan for walking, but I can’t believe the new management keeps wasting plate appearances on him.

Huh
that guy Pat Maholm is back on the mound.
I wonder if he is related to Paul Maholm.

Missed the top of the first...
how did Nyjer get doubled on a line drive to 2B?

it was a soft liner
so it looked off the bat like maybe it was into the outfield. Plus a very strong throw by the 2B. The bottom line is he should have frozen instead of breaking a step.

Kind of amazing to me that Cain’s ERA is only marginally better than Maholm’s. I guess that says more about Maholm than about Cain. Maholm is really having a pretty remarkable season.

Scott McClain
had a pretty nice run in Japan from 2001-2004. He put up good numbers in the 2001 and 2003 seasons, but wrist injuries limited him in the other two. He`s the kind of 4A player that seems to have success more often than not in Japan, but just doesn`t quite have it for MLB.

At 36, the Giants probably view him as a prospect.

Sort of but ...
four hits including a homer and a walk but only one run. Not as bad as it could have been.

don't know
but the home plate ump definately gave Cain the same pitch he wouldn’t give to Maholm 3 or 4 times that inning.

So does anyone know the correct ruling on the play in the bottom
of the Giants 4th? For those who didn’t see it, DF had guys on 1st and 2nd and the batter hit a soft liner to the SS. Cuz knocked it down and Molina who was on 2nd retreated to 2nd. Cruz threw to Sanchez, who was standing on second and after making the catch tagged Molina. The ump called both runners out. The Giant announcers say that because Freddy was on second when he made the catch it erased the force on Molina and he should have been safe. That seems to make sense but it is hard to believe that the ump wouldn’t know the rule. It was clear that Sanchez touched second before he made the tag.

yeah
i left the blowout we were putting on here in Louisville to go home and watch the game. It wasn’t pretty, but at least they won. Buffalo isn’t that terrible either. They just blew out UTEP, who is beating Texas right now…

we did kinda lose to bowling green last week. What an awful season so far for the big east but you have to love WVU losing. ECU is the bomb!

why leave Bautista in to implode?
Not like the bullpen isn’t rested.

what a miserable inning. The sad part is it was the right move to take out Paul

Man,
we are making Scott McClain look like a real major leaguer.
It says a lot about a pitcher like Bautista when you give up a HR to someone like McClain.
The Pirates are sorting through players now and looking at what moves they want to make with the 40-man roster in the offseason.
Bautista doesn`t impress. Don`t get too comfortable in Pittsburgh.

It was actually Grabow who gave up the HR
to McClain. And as long as Maholm is going around kicking guys in the nuts he might consider aiming one at JR. He seems to have a real knack for seclecting the wrong reliever thought I suppose that one could argue he doesn’t have much to work with.

I`ve had enough of this-
this isn`t MLB. A few big leaguers on both teams, but a bunch of minor league hacks, too. You guys enjoy the rest of it.
The Steelers are ready to open the season.

Don't leave now
Luigi has 3 hits tonite, including a double. He’s quietly putting together his first good week wth the PBC.
Only 16 points under the Mendoza line. It’s things like this that keep a Pirate fan going.

that was the worst call
I’ve seen in a LOOOOOOONG time…that ball was about 8 inches off the plate. What was that about calling more strikes with non contenders?
