Jack Wilson injury

DK is reporting that Jack Wilson will miss much of the remainder of the season with a hairline fracture of the finger.

I'm not sure why he would try to come back for a very few games, if healthy, especially since we end the season on the road. Looks like Cruz and Bixler will get a real chance to show their stuff.

That’ll help torpedo any off-season trade value he might have had.

I don't think so

It’s a fairly minor injury that should heal with no real problem. As such, most teams will be smart enough to know that it won’t materially affect his 2009 performance (although I’m sure they’ll at least try to use it to get a discount anyway).

But those smart teams

Aren’t the ones that would take Jack Wilson, anyway!

As much as people rip on Jack...

…the shortstop market really, really sucks right now. If it’s a choice between Wilson and someone like Renteria or Lopez, the smart organization pretty much has to take Jack, doesn’t it?

I just hope...

that we get to see Jack in the black ‘n’ gold next year.
