Scratch Lee

add Fox.

They SHOULD be able to get this game in…if it starts. With the Cubs…the parking and beer are probably all they are worried about. Rain hasn’t been heavy enough to make the field unplayable…and any periods of heavy rain over the next several hours should be rather brief.

There's almost NO

parking anywhere near Wrigley…

Good thing we get a few early on Samardzija.

I was afraid he’d completely shut us down (ala Homer Bailey).

Hey, an out is an out - unless you're Mario, in which case it's probably two outs. -UtesFan89

Cocktails, re: my e-mail

It’s a fun thing to do if you’re on the sending rather than receiving end.

If we don’t get this game in, I’m assuming it doesn’t get replayed, which means we only have to win one more game to avoid a 100 loss season.

by Trogluddite on Oct 1, 2009 9:03 PM EDT reply actions

HA!

I’ll bet you are right…

I don’t think the rain is gonna last – it isn’t raining at my apartment, and I’m only 11 stops north of Wrigley.

Thunder, care to chime in here?

Free your ass and your mind will follow.

by cocktailsfor2 on Oct 1, 2009 9:08 PM EDT up reply actions

All this weather rolling east

means we’ll have a rotten weekend in the People’s Republic of New York.

by Trogluddite on Oct 1, 2009 9:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Figure...

rain ends around 9 pm CDT or so…then probably 60 to 90 minutes before the next rain. They will get an official game (5+ innings) with a little patience. And if they aren’t going to have patience…they shouldn’t have started the game to begin with

by Thunder on Oct 1, 2009 9:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Correction:

Massive thunder & lightning here @ my apt.

So if our Thunder is right, we should re-start in about 35-45 mins.

See you all then.

There’s still the new guy.

Or if we want to make a push for the second draft pick, there’s Bautista and Bootcheck.

by WTM on Oct 1, 2009 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Baltimore won...

so there’s still a chance. I would like to see what the new guy has though. Plus you forgot about Dumatrait. He should be on that list too I think.

by Slick1 on Oct 1, 2009 9:42 PM EDT up reply actions

It’s not time for Dumatrait yet. His role is to keep left-handed batters from beating us by walking them.

by WTM on Oct 1, 2009 9:58 PM EDT up reply actions

damn this rain sucks

by JR89 on Oct 1, 2009 10:04 PM EDT reply actions

Should stop raining in next 15 minutes or so…if it hasn’t already.

by Thunder on Oct 1, 2009 10:06 PM EDT up reply actions

very nice.

at least get enough in for the game. love to take 3 of 4

And I wonder, still I wonder,

when will stop the rain? (probably no one old enough to recognize what song lyrics I’m bastardizing)

by JR89 on Oct 1, 2009 10:30 PM EDT up reply actions

OLDIES!!??

grrrrrrrrr….. of course you missed some classic bands like KC and the Sunshine Band and Air Supply as well.

by Trogluddite on Oct 1, 2009 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions

haha yes but I still know quite a bit of them.

I don’t mind “oldies” as much as one might think a 20 year old would.

Steelers - Immaculate Reception. Penguins - Immaculate Rejection. Pirates......Immaculate Resurrection???

by JR89 on Oct 1, 2009 10:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Most people...

didn’t miss KC and the Sunshine Band this year…sure were enough ads before their Skyblast concert. But I’m guessing half the people on here weren’t around when they were originally “popular”.

by Thunder on Oct 1, 2009 10:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Both of those bands

are from a dark, embarrasing time in our past that we don’t talk about….

by Trogluddite on Oct 1, 2009 10:50 PM EDT up reply actions

i know one song of his.

and thats it. i believe that and jo dee mussina were the only concerts i missed. Foreigner put on a helluva show

Steelers - Immaculate Reception. Penguins - Immaculate Rejection. Pirates......Immaculate Resurrection???

by JR89 on Oct 1, 2009 11:04 PM EDT up reply actions

It's not...

when…it’s who’ll stop the rain.

by Thunder on Oct 1, 2009 10:32 PM EDT up reply actions

uh....yes....

but we’re not wondering who will stop the rain, we’re wondering when the rain will stop…..

by Trogluddite on Oct 1, 2009 10:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Looking at radar...

when…isn’t an issue. Radar says that the rain has moved into Lake Michigan. They should be able to get through at least 5 innings before it rains again.

by Thunder on Oct 1, 2009 10:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Is it actually not raining there right now? I couldn’t tell. The announcers on the Cubs feed seemed to think they would be playing eventually, but had no idea when.

by ElDuce on Oct 1, 2009 10:49 PM EDT up reply actions

says rain shower

on lameday

by JR89 on Oct 1, 2009 10:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Well...

if they don’t get started in the next 15 minutes or so…loading up the bus wouldn’t be a bad idea…unless they want the game to end at 3 am.

by Thunder on Oct 1, 2009 11:03 PM EDT reply actions

So can I...

since I start working midnight shifts tomorrow night. Not sure how the citizens of Wrigleyville will feel about it though.

11:05 ET and still no game

Guess I’m going to have to stop using Bucs Dugout as my main weather source.

by Zadoras on Oct 1, 2009 11:05 PM EDT reply actions

Just more proof

that the Cubs are one of the worst run franchises in MLB. This was and is just plain stupid.

by Brakeman8 on Oct 1, 2009 11:08 PM EDT reply actions

Can't TOTALLY blame the Cubs.

It’s the last trip in…the Umpires control the show. Problem now…is the more time they waste with no water falling from the sky…the less chance of getting through 5. Frankly…if it doesn’t start in the next 15 minutes…I’d say they are done.

by Thunder on Oct 1, 2009 11:16 PM EDT up reply actions

are they doing anything to get the field ready at this point?

all i have at my disposal is lameday

Steelers - Immaculate Reception. Penguins - Immaculate Rejection. Pirates......Immaculate Resurrection???

by JR89 on Oct 1, 2009 11:18 PM EDT up reply actions

That’s because the actual network carrying the game was showing rain delay programming and now are airing a sports news show. They said they don’t have an update on the game.

by ElDuce on Oct 1, 2009 11:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Rocco DeMaro plays weather man and says there’s no way they continue the game at this point.

by ElDuce on Oct 1, 2009 11:21 PM EDT reply actions

I'm sure that the Cubs are thrilled.

They’ve been able to allow the fans to get blasted on beer for the last 4 hours. The concessionaires must be making a mint. Looking at the radar…before it went down…any heavy rain had to have stopped roughly 45 minutes ago.

by Thunder on Oct 1, 2009 11:25 PM EDT reply actions

ESPN is a liar. It’s not postponed, it’s canceled.

by ElDuce on Oct 1, 2009 11:30 PM EDT up reply actions

Considering...

they posted before anyone else…at least they got it right that there would be no more baseball in Chicago tonight.

by Thunder on Oct 1, 2009 11:31 PM EDT up reply actions

man tis would happen

obviously the pirates can’t take 3 of 4 from superior teams consecutively. worlds not ready for it

Steelers - Immaculate Reception. Penguins - Immaculate Rejection. Pirates......Immaculate Resurrection???

They just act like it never happened. Stats are thrown out, no makeup.

by ElDuce on Oct 1, 2009 11:30 PM EDT up reply actions

Yahoo has already deleted any hint of a game.

by BlindSquirrel on Oct 1, 2009 11:46 PM EDT up reply actions

It's looking even better

for the PBC to not lose 100 games.

I wish Jeff Samardzija had stuck with football. I understand him taking the millions the Cubs offered, and the possibility he could have a much longer career in baseball than football, but I really thought he could’ve been a dynamite WR in the NFL.

by patthatt on Oct 2, 2009 11:26 AM EDT reply actions

Right

All we need now is one more rain out and we’re home. Pray for rain In Cinci on Sunday. I’m sure glad we are not playing San Diego.
