Given that for whatever reason, Sano ended up a Twin (place your blame where you see fit), the Pirates have about $2 million left over from the international signing period budget. As of now, that's getting rolled over to next year's draft/international budget, but perhaps this year's former international #2 deserves a look. Could be a steal.

Not a bad plan I think. I know with his vision problems he has to undergo a ton of vision tests, and even if he passes them, he will take a healthy pay cut from his original contract so he’ll most definitely be within the Buccos’ pay range. I know Mateo is an outfielder and (obviously) supposed to be pretty talented…other than his contract getting voided, does anyone have any info on this kid?

Well, he's supposedly going to sign with the Giants.

That might not be the kind of info you’re looking for, though.
