What the Public Needs to Know About the Pirates
Let's go back to the year that the Pirates (then owned by PNC Bank and other stalwart Pittsburgh industry titans) wew sold to Ken McClatchey and his media dynasty for $225 Million. Did you know what happed less than 2 weeks after the sale? PNC Bank (a major shareholder of the Pirates) purchased 13 banks outside the state of PA for $1.2 Bilion CASH. What loyal investors!!!
Do you know what has happened since---the Pirate organization has blamed its infamous 17 year llosing streak on the city of Pittsburgh and its loyal population. After all, we're a small market right--well let's see anoher owner's approach--Wayne Hysinga of Waste Management & Blockbuster Video fame approached Jim Leyland and said: Come coach for my team and I will buy the players for a World Series Championship. Guess What---HE DID AND THEY WON IT ALL!!
On the other hand, PNC spent $1 M a year for the naming rights and associted free advertising on the side of the stadium. Oh yeah--they also built a $100M HQs on the other side of the river so they can point out ttheir corporate clients PNC Park. So much for corporate loyalty to the City of Pittsburgh!!.
The problem with the Pirates is: Ownership will not spend tthe money to produce championship caliber teams, their recruiting and farm system sucks, and everyone can see there is absolutely no pride in ownership. So much for a representative of the City of Champions
Just imagine if PNC Bank had invested $1.2 Billion in the Pirates how many baseball rings this so called city of champions would have? And the economic impact! One last question------how come the fabled sports media all stars of Pittsburgh don't publish the truth--I suspect they all know it---but they're probably paranoid of keeping their small market jobs because of the perceived power of PNC. When are we going to create sportswriters who have the spine and other body parts to write the truth like the Undercover Brother!!
Next: Why Bill Cowher will not be elected to the Professional Football Hall of Fame or how can you be successful when you play in the worst conference, get into the playoffs and traditionally go one and out!?

Imagine how many Derek Bells and Pat Meares we could have signed with $1.2 billion.
You mean, of course...
Vernon Wells, Barry Zito, Milton Bradley and maybe even Jose Guillen.
OTOH, maybe they would have drafted Wieters…

Your namesake movie is tremendous, one of my favorite comedies of the decade. You do it’s memory a disservice.
Huh...
this is a new take for the conspiracy theory buffs. I have heard many blame Huntington, Coonely and of course Nutting for the 17 year streak. I have to admit that this is the first time I’ve heard someone blame PNC Bank. This a really refreshing angle. Personally, I blame global warming and Pirmanti Brothers.
P.S.
Also gotta say that even though it was another dissapointing seaon, I’m still sad to see the season end. Hope is on the horizon for these young Buccos. And Already I can’t wait till spring.
I heard....
they were selling spring to Nutting and then using the profits to bring year round summer weather to states outside of Pennsylvania!
Stuart Mackenzie: Well, it’s a well known fact, Sonny Jim, that there’s a secret society of the five wealthiest people in the world, known as The Pentavirate, who run everything in the world, including the newspapers, and meet tri-annually at a secret country mansion in Colorado, known as The Meadows.
Tony Giardino: So who’s in this Pentavirate?
Stuart Mackenzie: The Queen, The Vatican, The Gettys, The RothschildsPNC Bank, and Colonel Sanders before he went tits up. Oh, I hated the Colonel with is wee beady eyes, and that smug look on his face. “Oh, you’re gonna buy my chicken! Ohhhhh!”
Ya know...
I bet the Rothschilds own PNC Bank, or at least run it. Clearly if you look at it from the right angle, the Rothschilds are behind the 17 straight losing seasons. Them and the Bilderbergers. I just wonder how we can blame President Obama for all of this too.

Obama said he was going to bring about change.
Nothing has changed so obviously we can blame Obama too.
Don't forget George Bush...
Eight of those dreadful seasons were on his watch. Attack NYC and blame it on terrorists, check! Attack Iraq and blame it on terrorists, check! Oh yes…… and make sure those Pittsburgh Pirates continue losing! muh ha ha ha! MUH HA HA HA!

What about Bill Clinton?
He was president for 8 years and he made sure the Pirates had losing seasons too! No matter what party is in power, they’re all determined to keep the Pirates losing.
Those bastards.
The only true bi-partisan thing that has ever happened in this country is a conspiracy to keep the Pirates from winning!

Undercover Brother, I have spent the time past since I read your post, trying to construct an understandable and eloquent response.
What I have come up with follows:
You sir, are an idiot.

Obviously, something that’s beyond my technical knowledge is at play here.

It’s considered very uncool to link directly to an image on someone else’s site. They pay to host those images, and loading the image from their site counts against their bandwidth.
Basically, by taking an image directly from a site and planting it somewhere else, you’re showing other people their image and making them pay for it, but without the benefits of people seeing their site. Thus, some people make a script to display images like the one shown above to discourage people from stealing their bandwidth.
It’s more ethical practice to first upload the image to something like ImageShack or PhotoBucket or Flickr before posting it on a public forum.
The more you know!

I had thought...
…that when we link a photo, SB Nation was creating a local copy of the image and hosting it locally on their server.
This is apparently not the case, which is sad. Hotlinking other people’s stuff is rude.
