I think this is good for the Pirates in general, so all speculation on this issue can end! I think Jack Wilson would have been good to have around in 2007, if we had the rest of the parts… I don’t think his 33 and 34 age seasons are going to be particularly productive, and his last 2-3 seasons where he has missed major chunks of playing time are very likely indicators of what is to come…

I also think Wilson is a good sign at $5M (which is what the Bucs offered him?), and Seattle probably sees him as a pretty good option at this point… I still wouldn’t expect Wilson to play more than a 100-110 games average over the next 2 seasons, and I think its good that all speculation about him in Pittsburgh will now end. He was, for the most part, a classy guy, and there is little dout that he set extremely high defensive standards in Pittsburgh, for which we should be grateful…
