"[Chase D'Arnaud] does everything well enough," said an American League scout. "He doesn’t have a standout tool, but he has some bat speed and he can square it up. He’s got gap power, but he can turn on one and hit it out."
[...]
Added another AL scout: "He has to not get out on his front side so much, but he’s strong for his size. He drifts out on his front side but he has such good hands that he can make up for it."

Is that...
the same post that said he had played some second and third but that he was capable of playing short?

Let's hope...
he can break out in AA next year and push himself into the picture for 2011. Sure would be great to have a SS with an OBP of over .300.

My Question
Is why we don’t just play him at short? It’s becoming obvious that he’s going to be better than Jordy Mercer or Brian Friday, so why not maximize his value by playing him exclusively at ss. That is, of course, unless he doesn’t have the skills to play the position. But everything I’ve read states he is good defensively.

I wonder
…why they don’t play him at short too. I think they should let him prove that he can play it or not.

Good to see thus far
Still, it seems the jump to AA has claimed a fair few over the years, and let’s wait till he clears it! Very excited about the Mercer-D’Arnaud pair!
