Kinda argues that the FO overrated Karstens.

Then again, they did DFA him.

Since I know someone's going to ask:

(Or at least speculate wildly.) Diaz had too much service time to be given an outright assignment, so they had to let him become a minor league FA.

The fact that nobody claimed him is kind of interesting, in light of all the weeping and gnashing of teeth following his DFA.

I guess it’d be especially funny if they DFA’d Bixler before the Rule draft and somebody actually claimed him.

Bixler is the batter equivalent of the “innings eater” pitcher.

In mildly related news

LaRoche and Nady were not offered arbitration.

Not LaRoche?

Damn, seems like hardly anybody’s getting the offer.

At least maybe the Pirates’ second round pick next year won’t be the equivalent of a third round pick.
