The Jays also have...
…relatively little that I’d want to trade for.
Guess it’d have to be pitching. Maybe Brett Cecil or Marc Rzepczynski? I’m not sold on Romero, and it’s tough to put Litsch or McGowan in a deal without knowing how their respective rehabs are going.
Dejan responded to this report in the comments on the PBC blog:
Doumit is not likely to go anywhere, as I’ve written a couple times. It’s not that the Pirates wouldn’t trade him. It’s that a) they’re not shopping him and b) they’re not going to get good value right now because of the season he just had and c) they would not have an easy time replacing the offense he can bring when healthy.
Mild interest won't get a trade for Doumit done
It would have to be crazy, insanely optimistic interest with hole card of an MLB ready shortstop.
If that's what it'll take...
…then nothing will happen. Nobody has ML-ready shortstops to deal right now, or if they do, they need them themselves.

The Pirates and Toronto are discussing a trade involving catcher Ryan Doumit, but the Blue Jays are not the only team in the mix.
More tentative word is floating that the Mariners — who were known previously — and Giants are in there, too. Among those I have crossed off the list this morning are the Mets, Rangers and Marlins.
