No surprise, since the Bucs are probably happy with the rotation as it stands now. Especially given that 35 of the bad starts in 09 came from Snell, Karstens, and V. Vazquez, none of whom will be back next year. Also Lincoln will likely be up next year and projects as an average arm at worst for ’10.
I suspect...
…that they’re still going to add a SP, to cover for contingencies.

I agree, but not as a beginning-season starter in MLB.

And the year before
we were happy about replacing Matt Morris, JVB, Bullington. It seems like every year we replace scrubs with scrubs. Let’s hope we are injury and regression free this year.
None of our "scrubs" this year...
…were quite as scrubby as Morris, JVB, or Bullington, were they?

Well...
There was Donny Veal, although an exception can be made because he was clearly not MLB ready
The glare of the spotlight is harsh, and the pressure that success breeds immense. We revere our heroes, but expect much. And criticism can come as easily as praise.
Fortunately...
…we weren’t in a position where we needed to hand Veal any starts last year. That wasn’t the case with the other three.
The addition of Duchscherer at that price would have been nice
but I don’t think I would have wanted them to go any further to outbid Oakland.
Over the break...
…this piece cited Duchscherer’s relationship with Ray Karesky, the A’s team psychologist, as a factor in deciding to return to Oakland.
Seems like we might have been hard-pressed to match that, regardless of how much money we put on the table.
