LaRoche Holds Key to LaRoche's Future

When looking at the Pirates projected 2009 opening day lineup, there are very few veterans on it.

When looking at the Pirates farm system, there are very few prospects in it.

Therefore, the Pirates are very likely going to need to move a few more veterans for prospects if the young guys in that opening day lineup don't step up.

Freddy Sanchez, Jack Wilson and Adam LaRoche are the only "veteran" position players on the team who could get a "decent" return of prospects. The exchange of these players will be imminent if the young guys in our lineup don't produce.

Therefore, if Andy LaRoche and guys like him (aka Brandon Moss, Nyger Morgan) don't produce Adam Laroche and guys like him (aka Freddy and Jack) will have to be traded.

I wonder if Andy realizes that he holds the key to his brother's future with the team?

You think?

If those young guys like Andy do good enough and so does Adam, will they trade him? Hes a potential .280 30 HR 100 RBI guy. If he does that and the young guys do well I think they should keep him.

What for?

Even if Andy and the other young guys do well, the Pirates won’t be close to contending. Better to trade him for prospects for a run in the future.

I made most of my life decisions at a Foghat concert... I stand by them.

Yeah, I think.

Even if the young guys play well, this team has a ceiling around 75 wins, and he’s a free agent at the end of the year. Unless they get absolutely nothing as far as offers are concerned, I think he’ll go.

IDK

i would hope the pirates are still somewhat in the hunt by the deadline. if we are even close, he will need to be counted on for much of the power in the lineup.

LETS HAVE A LITTLE OPTIMISM HERE
