Adam Dunn Signs With Nationals
Two years, $20 million, which is a bargain for a guy who'll hit a ton of home runs and net the Nats a couple of good draft picks when he hits a better free agent market. Nats GM Jim Bowden drafted Dunn as the GM of the Reds, and Dunn is also close with Nats outfielder Austin Kearns, so there's probably no way the Pirates were getting in on this action without spending significantly more money. Dunn will play first base for the Nationals, which should limit the amount of damage he'll do on defense. Nice move by Washington.

Why rationalize why he signed with Washington and conclude Pgh would have needed to spend significantly more money. Follow the dollar. He got the most money he could, maybe with a small side order of going from one bandbox to another so he can try for another payday in two years.
They did well to get him to agree to play 1B.
I think his glove will do a lot less damage there, even if it does squeeze Nick the Stick out of the lineup.
