Pirates Defeat Phillies
8-2. Nice. Rule 5 pick Donald Veal picked up the win with a scoreless fourth. Shelby Ford homered (off a non-prospect named Joe Bisenius, so don't get too excited), and Steve Pearce hit an RBI double in his only at bat. Freddy Sanchez went 2-for-2 with a double. Pedro Alvarez whiffed on three straight breaking balls in his only plate appearance.

Nice to talk about an actual BB game again
it feels like spring to me.
Some extra points.
Mike “Full Pack” Capps walked 3 in his one inning. I’m not worried.
Luigi did not make it off the bench. I’m not worried (yet).
Nyjer Morgan led off and played LF — let the good times roll.
I’d say WstCstBucco deserves the benefit of the doubt on that one. :) I doubt there are many people in the world who know who “Luigi” refers to but don’t know Capps’ first name.

Thanks Charlie
I was thinking of Mike Marshall (and Earl Weaver) and had a slight stroke. Aaah, for the good old days, when managers could smoke in the dugout.
I wasn't
puttin’ the dig in – hence the wink…
Not like with some others.

"Full Pack"=Don Stanhouse
The first time I heard “FuUll Pack” used for a relief pitcher was for the 1979 WS and it refered to Don Stanhouse.
Winning/losing ST games means nothing-but it is better to win then lose.
Maybe Capps got his 3 walks fo the year out of his system now so he doesn’t walk a bunch in the first few gamesl ike he did last year.
Pearce had a walk? I’m starting to think spring training doesn’t mean anything…
charity standing orders
well
maybe he actually worked on locating a strike zone and not believing every ball is mashable. lol
The worst thing i think would be to watch him become like Jason Bay where he watches balls on 3-2 count for a strike and strikes out watching. That used to upset me the most.
