I know it is only Spring training, but Garret Jones and Andy Phillips have really hit well. From what I can tell they have both always had potential and have been blocked in other organizations. With Hinske and Vasquez garunteed bench spots, do they have any chance of making the Major league team based on spring or AAA performance? Possibly as late season call ups? Or are they sandwiched between our current MLB players, and younger, homegrown prospects. It makes me really wish we hadn’t signed Vasquez as Phillips plays all of the infield positions as well and Jones as shown promise, but is left handed along with every other Pirate outfielder besides Monroe.
