Bryan Morris Out 4-6 Weeks

That's not good, but at least he doesn't need surgery. The Post-Gazette reports that he's been diagnosed with "significantly restricted range of motion" in his shoulder. I'm not a doctor, but that sounds like more of a symptom than a cause to me. Let's hope there's nothing else to it and that he'll be ready to go in a month, but it sounds to me like another shoe is going to drop here.

The same article reports that Jimmy Barthmaier and his ailing elbow will miss a month with a strained flexor mass.

A symptom over having to compensate for the toe problem?

I guess the news could have been worse and all but the last thing this kid needed was down time…

Eerily

Sounds like the Freddie Sanchez syndrome of last year.

Yeah..I’m healthy…but I’m throwing balls like a lollipop and hitting like crap.
still don’t know why they didn’t just didn’t DL him last year when he was playing somewhat poorly last year. I mean it’s not like the pirates were gonna make playoffs and he probably wouldn’t have been good trade bait with his injury and poor showing back then.

Might just have to shut him down for the year and get 2nd opinion?

Bad news...

…but still better than I expected.

Really sucks.

This isn’t some long-standing issue, or at least I don’t see how it could be. I saw him in an exhibition game in mid-March and he was impressive. Just totally different from any other pitcher I saw at Pirate City. He was sitting at 92-93 and the ball seemed to explode out of his hand. Sharp breaking ball, although his command needs to improve. I have no trouble at all understanding why he was the key to the trade. He certainly wasn’t having any range of motion problem. Whatever happened has happened since then.
