Pirates Lose to Manatee Community College
That's right, a community college. Insert your own joke here.

To be fair no one from the 25 man roster was playing but that’s still little excuse.
I made most of my life decisions at a Foghat concert... I stand by them.

Heh, check the box score.
The Manatee guys used a different pitcher every inning. And we got killed by the bottom of their lineup – the 7-8-9 hitters combined for eight of their eleven hits (including all the XBHs).
It’ll be a nice memory for the Manatee guys, anyway.

To be fair
The main squad beat the Reds 6-5 today.
It was most of the 25 man roster, except somebody named Larry Broadway played RF and in his 0/4 had 5 runners LOB. No starting pitcher played.

He's AAA filler, signed out of Washington's system to play 1B.
Duke alum, pretty much a replacement-level 1B.

Dave Davidson
was the losing pitcher for the Pirate minor leaguers.
Didn’t our esteemed colleague, the gunner, suggest Davidson as a lefty out of the pen, instead of making a major-league acquisition?
Congrats to Manatee Community College!

When your pitcher is Dave Davidson and you also roster a guy named Henry Henry what do you expect???

I'm actually really curious about Henry Henry.
WTM’s description is pretty amusing.

I saw a lot of him at Pirate City this month. He didn’t impress me with the bat and defensively I’d rate him somewhere south of Jim Negrych. Short and stocky, not much range or athleticism. He does have a small strike zone, though. No way he’s 5’9", as listed at MiLB.com.

at least last year they waited until the opening day to embarrass us...
i know it’s spring training, none of the actual pirates were there and if it happened to most other teams it wouldn’t raise an eyebrow, but still you have to admit that it’s pretty funny considering our reputation.

Yeah, and that’s really all I meant by it. When I saw Stephen Strasburg pitch a few weeks ago, several batters got hits off him even though it was obvious that no one knew what to do with him. These freaky things happen.
