BA Prep Catchers Article and Jake Fox

Disclaimer:  I'm in favor of keeping Doumit at catcher and don't want management to panic and do anything stupid.

That being said there's been talk about if the Bucs should look at catchers in the draft for the future or other team's systems to plug the hole while Doumit's hurt/ if he's hurt again.  I'm personally hopeful about Jamarillo.  However, I came across this article if anyones interested in a prep catcher to be developed for the future.  After all even if Doumit stays healthy and produces his deal is only 3 years, after which a lot of teams would be interested in a catcher with his bat if he was able to sustain his production with the Pirates.  Also it seems like the Cub's have an offensive catcher of their own blocked at AAA, Jake Fox.  Seems worth discussion.  If this guy proved he could hit MLB pitching for 2 months, he could be decent trade material at the deadline if anyone else finds themselves needing a catcher due to injury, or a DH.

About Jake Fox:

"Iowa's Jake Fox is the hottest hitter in the minors. Through 11 games, Fox leads all minor leaguers in runs (14), hits (22), homers (seven), RBIs (22), extra-base hits (13), total bases (50) and slugging percentage (1.087), all while batting a cool .478.

Unfortunately for Fox, he's not going to get much opportunity with the Cubs, for whom he went 2-for-14 in 2007. A catcher when Chicago made him a third-round pick out of Michigan in 2003, he's defensively challenged at first base, third base and in the outfield. He'd be better off with an American League club that could DH him. He's also a righthanded hitter, which won't help him get platoon at-bats. Though some club officials believe Fox would have at least 25-homer power in the majors, the Cubs have no spot for him and haven't been able to find any takers for him."

Over at Bleed Cubbies Blue they don't seem to be incredibly high on him and wouldn't expect more than an equivalent minor leaguer in return.  Who do you think we could/should get him for IF we wanted him?  Of course the Cubs could be holding him hoping he has more value at the deadline to a team in need of a catcher if he tears up AAA.  Anyone know anything about this guy, prep catchers, barbecue sauce recipes, our own minor league C prospects?
