Greg Miller: Future Pirate
Former top prospect LHP Greg Miller was released by the Dodgers today, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him end up in the Pirates organization in the near future. He has all the hallmarks of a Neal Huntington pickup: young (24), big (6-5), good arm, control problems, hindered by injuries, lefty, potential as both starter and reliever, etc. He was once considered the #2 prospect in the Dodgers organization, and I wouldn't mind seeing if Kerrigan and our minor league coaches can tap into his potential.

RE: Miller
I agree. why not? Still need more arms in the minor league system. What kind of velocity does Miller have? Any idea?
Mid-90s
I’ve seen varying reports on his velocity, but it looks like he throws in the mid-90s on a regular basis. Some have him hitting the upper 90s at times. Here is a decent and recent scouting report from a Dodger blog.
Scouting Report
Thanks for attaching that. Plus fastball and slider. Downside is control. Maybe one of those guys that needs a fresh start with some new eyes to work on his mechanics or whatever is the cause of his poor control? I don’t think he’d be much worse than some of the guys on the Indianapolis roster currently: Esparza, Hamman, Quintero, Santos, or Smith. Why not, I say.
Could Be Another Koufax
I saw a game at Forbes Field in the 50s when Koufax was a rookie with Brooklyn. He threw a fastball that rolled up the screen behind home plate.
Maybe Kerrigan can fix him.
If not, maybe Perry Hill can show him how to play first base and Don Long can turn him into another Rick Ankiel.
I’m gonna …. keep watchin..
Why don't
you just put "keep watchin’ " in your signature line? Then you wouldn’t hafta keep trying to sneak it in…
I’m trying to like you, Gunner, truly I am…

He's worth it
He’s had shoulder trouble, but he can throw. Give him some time in the minors and see what happens. The Dodgers really liked him, they just ran out of time and roster spots.

Greg Miller
I too hated to lose him. Seems like he’s been in the system for ages. If the Pirates sign him, I wouldn’t mind if he blossomed into a star. Paul
