Delgado on DL. Quick ! Trade Mario
Strike while the iron is hot ! Trade Mario LaRoche to the Metropolitians for prospects while he is still hitting well and Delgado is still injured. We could finally bring up Pearce and let him play full time. Neil Hunington needs to continue to trade high. Who do the Mets have ? The Bucs should pull the trigger unless Omar Minaya wants to give us back Ollie Prez. Oh, how the mighty have fallen since 2004. Go Bucs !

Trade him to the Mets...
for Reyes, Wright, Putz, Rodriguez, and an autographed Mookie Wilson jersey.
David Wright
and if they refuse, then we can send him to the Phillies for a AA player.

continues to plummet with 0-4, 3 K’s today.

Not a Bad Idea!
Actually, the Mets are one of the few teams that SHOULD be interested in LaRoche. They need a long term replacement for Delgado. However, who do they have that we want? If they have a SS who is major league ready, I’d say pull the tigger! Personally, I think their farm system is kind of empty after the Santana trade.
Long-term replacement?
LaRoche is a FA this offseason. No team is going to trade for him with the intent of acquiring a long-term solution, when he could just walk at the end of the year.
He will be a pretty attractive rental, though.
Not Quite Right
Remember that whille he will be a FA, he will be their FA. That means they get first shot at him. PLus they get a Draft pick if he signs elsewhere. So while he is a till endo fo the year rental; their are some pluses if you would be pursuing him as a FA anyway.
I do agree that this limits what we could get for him. But since the Mets are going for it this year, they might give up something of value (like they did for Santana) to win this year and give them an edge to sign him after the season.
Vlad:
I understand what you’re saying but I think that the pressure is really on Minaya to make the playoffs this year after the last two embarrasing debacles and so we might have some leverage. Plus, as Zogger said, the Mets would still benefit by having him as a member of their team while they negotiate. Perhaps, that could be part of their strategy for acquiring him so that they get him signed before the end of the season.

From Joel Sherman of the NY Post
I have heard San Diego’s Adrian Gonzalez’s name, but every time I talk to Padres officials they tell me that Gonzalez is not only their best player on a reasonable contract, but a home boy from the area whom they want to build around, not deal. Pittsburgh’s Adam LaRoche finally got off to a strong start, but Mets officials have told me in the past that they do not particularly like him as a player.
So it sounds like he’s low on their list anyway

Neither do I.
