Let's do this

I dont feel too confident in the pitching matchup, but hopefully Karstens will prove me wrong

Frankarstein

needs to rebound well here. It’s not like we’re fielding a “Sunday lineup,” so he should benefit from good defense.

When Doumit gets back, I suspect we'll see...

a lineups that looks like this against righties:

   1. Morgan, LF
   2. Sanchez, 2B
   3. McLouth, CF
   4. Adam LaRoche, 1B
   5. Doumit, C
   6. Andy LaRoche, 3B
   7. Moss, RF
   8. Bixler, SS
   9. Pitcher

That’s a nice lefty-powered lineup. Doumit may have lost his clean-up gig, which I think works out for the best.

by SloshyJ on May 3, 2009 12:45 PM EDT reply actions

Why would Doumit lose his clean-up spot? The lineup will be back to normal with Doumit hitting clean-up LaRoche hitting fifth.

by thelumberco. on May 3, 2009 1:55 PM EDT up reply actions

NYJER!

I would like to motion for 2 things.

1. Nyjer should change his name to NYJER! so that the excitement translates into print.

2. NYJER! be moved from “on the fringes” to “firmly entrenched” on the left sidebar.

and yes I was one of the people yelling that he shouldn’t be in the opening day lineup at the end of ST

Moss

I have seen enough of Moss. McCutchen should be called up to play RF and how much better would the lineup look:

1. Morgan LF
2. McCutchen RF
3. Sanchez 2B
4. McLouth CF
5. LaRoche 1B
6. LaRoche 3B
7. Vazquez SS
8. Jaramillo C

by GO_BUCS on May 3, 2009 1:07 PM EDT reply actions

McCutchen is slumping at AAA.

Let him find his feet in Indy before putting the pressure on him at the highest level.

SloshyJ – So you have Jack traded by the time Doumit returns?

by RDV across the sea on May 3, 2009 1:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Possibly

But trading Jack Wilson is probably a non-starter in my book. No one is going to take his salary off our hands unless we buyout a significant portion of it. Given that, I don’t see giving him playing time over a potential future starter in Bixler. I’d like to see them share time at SS the rest of the season.

by SloshyJ on May 3, 2009 2:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Too high

I would have Cutch bat near the bottom of the lineup. Leave NYJER! Sanchez Nate at the top

by thegreatchris on May 3, 2009 2:04 PM EDT up reply actions

by thelumberco. on May 3, 2009 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Should've gotten Hughes...

We should’ve made the Yankees include Phil Hughes in that deal last summer, not Karstens.

by thelumberco. on May 3, 2009 2:06 PM EDT reply actions

No offense, but I don’t think Hughes was even on the table. We had a shot at Ian Kennedy, but Hughes was described as untouchable for Nady.

by thegreatchris on May 3, 2009 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, he should’ve been on the table. Don’t forget that the time, Marte was one of the most dominant left handed relief pitchers in baseball. Obviously, that’s not the case anymore, but at the time, we were giving up a lot. Either way, we should’ve got Hughes or Kennedy, not Karstens.

by thelumberco. on May 3, 2009 2:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Karstens was the throw-in. It was centered around Tabata and McCutchen mostly. We might’ve been able to get Tabata and Kennedy, but even Kennedy hasn’t looked all that great this year.

by thegreatchris on May 3, 2009 2:12 PM EDT up reply actions

by thegreatchris on May 3, 2009 2:17 PM EDT up reply actions
