Pirates’ lineup:
   1. Morgan, LF

   5. Hinske, RF
   6. Andy LaRoche, 3B

Also, from DK:

… Hinske is playing rather than Brandon Moss, according to Russell, because Hinske would have an easier time with Livan Hernandez’s slow stuff. It also was a factor that Hinske is 5 for his past 9.

How is this kid EVER supposed to get any PT?

Wait. Don’t answer that.

Russell is an idiot.

Sticks with Moss while he’s terrible, then lets him get spot starts when he starts hitting.

You are spot on!!!!

No Moss again? Fire Russell, and this time I am dead-ass serious. (unless Moss has some sort of serious ailment)

by ddff22 on Jun 1, 2009 6:29 PM EDT reply actions

No ailment...

JR doesn’t think he can hit a “slow ball” pitcher. I agree though, I think Russell should be fired. We don’t have a lot to work with this year, especially with Doumit on the DL. He constantly is taking our hottest hitters out of the lineup to get the veteran bench players at bats. I think he is garbage. Sitting Jack and Freddy the day before an off day was the epitome of luncay. I personally and done with him. I think his lineups alone have cost us a game or two…not to mention his handling of the pitching staff.

Wha happened?

Charlie quotes above:

Huntington says that “Some of our defensive metrics right now have Nyjer Morgan as the best outfielder in baseball.”

If it’s a myth, we gotta expose it!!

by WstCstBucco on Jun 1, 2009 10:08 PM EDT up reply actions

A bloop single to to left. Nyjer was playing way into the gap as usual and couldn’t get to it.

by shayborg on Jun 1, 2009 10:09 PM EDT up reply actions

But on the next play was playing more straight up and made a great catch.

by Brakeman8 on Jun 1, 2009 10:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Snell is up for the win.......

You better kiss your fellow team mates asses after that inning Ian!

by Battlin Bob on Jun 1, 2009 10:06 PM EDT reply actions

Gorzy’s in line for it actually.

by shayborg on Jun 1, 2009 10:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh.. listening to the radio side..

they were saying Capps a save..Snell gets the win

by Battlin Bob on Jun 1, 2009 10:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Snell won’t get the win, but can’t be the loser now.

by Brakeman8 on Jun 1, 2009 10:07 PM EDT up reply actions

NyMo with the rob!

by JGraz on Jun 1, 2009 10:07 PM EDT reply actions

BTW...

Cutch 3-3 tonight….now at .306
Lincoln…5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 1 HR…ERA now 2.14. He won’t get the win…Altoona in extras.

by Thunder on Jun 1, 2009 10:09 PM EDT reply actions

Michael Dubee pitched 2 innings, allowed a ground-ball single, and struck out 6 for Lynchburg. 26.1 IP, 16 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, and 40 K for a guy we acquired for Andy Phillips.

by shayborg on Jun 1, 2009 10:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Where do we sign

the petition to get Cutch brought up?lol

by Battlin Bob on Jun 1, 2009 10:10 PM EDT reply actions

Good idea, actually

At this point, DK won’t even ask Huntington the question — too much in lurv with NyMo.

by WstCstBucco on Jun 1, 2009 10:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh wait

that would be listening to the fans..we don’t want that

by Battlin Bob on Jun 1, 2009 10:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Remember

Cutch is not on the 40 man roster. The Bucs are going to want to trade someone and get at least some value out of whoever that is before moving McCutchen up to the big club. So we are NOT going to see him until Adam, Nyjer, Jack or someone else is dealt. It may not be what you want to hear, but it’s what is going to happen. Now that’s not to say they won’t go out and try and move one of those guys soon.

by Brakeman8 on Jun 1, 2009 10:16 PM EDT up reply actions

If they want to bring up Andrew McCutchen,

they can shi*can Luis Cruz from the 40-man and add Cutch. Cruz would almost surely make it through waivers.

I don’t think you’re going to see any trades soon.

Why do we have to go through this trade speculation merry-go-round anyway?

I don’t think we’d get much for Adam LaRoche, and, for the hundredth time, there is no reason to simply dump Jack and Freddy. No team would give us much for either of them, and we need to have a major-league caliber middle infield if we’re even going to pretend to chase .500. And what would be the purpose of trading Nyj? We’d be lucky to get a cold case of beer for him.

I’ll be happy to see Cutch in Pittsburgh, but he is still a prospect at this point-not a savior-and he’ll have a lot to prove to show he belongs in the everyday lineup the second half of this season and beyond.

by patthatt on Jun 1, 2009 10:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, Cutch would be better than Moss. Moss can’t even play full time.

by mspirate on Jun 1, 2009 11:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Seriously...

What JR is doing is stupid. If we’re just going to platoon Moss, Monroe, and Hinske in the outfield, then bring Cutch up and be done with it! Enough of this platoon crap! Cutch is going to be the everyday starter sooner rather than later, and obviously Moss hasn’t shown JR and NH that he can be the full-time starter, so why drag it on? Bring him up already and have your outfield of Morgan, McLouth, and McCutchen.

Didnt Capps used to throw a lot more sliders than this??? I think he needs to mix it up a bit more. 94 really isnt that hard to just be throwing fastballs

by biglar33 on Jun 1, 2009 10:10 PM EDT reply actions

Will they get 5,000

for Duke vs Santana tomorrow night against the Pens?

by Battlin Bob on Jun 1, 2009 10:12 PM EDT reply actions

I don’t know, but I’m calling a win. Remember, it’s the best pitcher in the league that were facing so we’ll probably knock him out by the 4th or 5th inning. If it were Ollie Perez going against us tomorrow, he’d throw a complete game 4-hit shutout.

by mspirate on Jun 1, 2009 11:23 PM EDT up reply actions

Wow did Capps just hit 97??

by JGraz on Jun 1, 2009 10:13 PM EDT reply actions

Give him the heater, Ricky!

by WstCstBucco on Jun 1, 2009 10:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Raise it!

Nice come from behind win for our PBC!

Nice game for the LaRoche brothers!

Welcome to the big leagues Steven Jackson!

Now, let’s go get Johan tomorrow.

by Brakeman8 on Jun 1, 2009 10:13 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah, too bad big bro Adam can’t ever get a hit with runners on base. Lil bro Andy has three more RBI than Adam. That’s absolutely terrible. No offense to Andy, he doin’ great, but…

Michael Dubee

2 IP 1 H 6 K’s and a save.

Since joining Lynchburg: 17 G 26.1 IP 16 H 3 ER 1 HR 2 BB 40K .174 AVG against and 1.03 ERA.

20:1 K/BB ratio. Nice!

by Brakeman8 on Jun 1, 2009 10:45 PM EDT reply actions

Maybe this will be a trade that will finally work out for us.

by mspirate on Jun 1, 2009 11:23 PM EDT up reply actions

We’ll be singing “Dubee Dubee Du, Where are You?”

by ddff22 on Jun 2, 2009 12:36 AM EDT up reply actions

Snell needs to get demoted. Other than that, a great night for the Pirates!
