Way to be
Morton. Nice fastball, last one got up there at 95. Nice curve, didn’t see his other two pitches much yet.
And now Karstens is warming up
Something wrong with Morton. Crap.
Morton out already?

I don't think so
They wouldn’t have let him out there to pitch the first if that was the case.
Morton
The entire time before the game and after the first inning when Kerrigan, Russell and the trainer were talking with Morton, they were not examining him in any way. No checking elbows or knees or his back…just talking. So I doubt he is hurt…just sick.

Tabata was out 6 weeks . . .
. . . with a “strained hamstring”
Then came back for 2 whole AB’s and is out again.
I don’t like the phrase “strained hamstring.”
Important for Morgan to advance to 3rd
At least he’ll score when Mario hits into a 4-6-3.

Maybe someone can explain...
why Morton was even allowed to start?? You change your delivery because of hamstring pain…and all of a sudden that’s not the only thing hurting.
Why was Tabata allowed to take 2 AB’s the other day before sitting down again with his hammy strain?
Evidently...
Tabata was telling the (Curve) Pirates he was fine. Morton told the team before the game started…as the announcers mentioned even before the first pitch.

Hamstring tightness most likely means he is day to day.
So, to your point, hopefully he makes his nice start. I’m really looking forwad to it because even with a tight hammy his stuff looked nasty. I’m officially excited about Morton.
That was supposed to be next start...not nice start.
Hopefully thought his next start is a nice start.
I'm confident.
We have four games and an off day after this. If nothing else, Maholm can start the game after the off day and Morton can have 10 days between starts.

We don’t want to run Monroe out there, and Delwyn Young is best suited to pinch-hit duty.

The term derives from hockey’s hat trick and since four is bigger than three; the rationale was that a four-strikeout performance should be referred to by a bigger hat, such as a sombrero

Even funnier from Wiki
The “Olympic Rings” or platinum sombrero applies to a player striking out five times in a game,1 while a horn (after Sam Horn of the Baltimore Orioles, who accomplished the feat in an extra-inning game in 1991) or titanium sombrero is bestowed upon a player who strikes out six times in a single game.

The Pirates have hit 0.
The Mets have hit 3.
That puts the Giants at 30, the Buccos at 33, and the Mets at 37 (on the season).
And that’s including the 9 from McLouth… which skew our numbers.

There was the game a couple days back
they batted in the same inning every at bat.
If Mario got a hit, Luigi got a hit.
If Mario walked, Luigi walked.
And if Mario got out, Luigi got out.
And it was like that for the entire game.

Which is why
Andy couldn’t knock in a run tonight…they already did it this month.
lol
more surprising is the 0-10 with 1 run.
Can’t we ever get a shut-out?

In Bizarro World
Don’t let best PH ever pinch hit. In Bizarro World, best PH plays in OF and 2B. He sucks in the field, which am bad in Bizzaro World, so it’s good.

I don't trust Capps

It’s the casual fans that only know guys who have ever played in the majors. Most just don’t get the whole minor league thing and that the PBC is an entire baseball organization.
They shouldn't be worried then
he’s sticking in AAA (for now)

Snelling was highly rated
when he came through the Mariners system…but every time he would get hot in the minors…or get called up to the majors…he’d get a significant injury.
Raise it!
Nice win for the Buccos. Any win over the Braves is a good win.
Also a great draft day!
Great day to be a Bucco fan!
Raise it.
Dammit, Capps… no need for drama like that…

A well-deserved win for Karstens,
with a scary finish from Capps.
I’m looking forward to the draft recaps in the next few days.
