Ya know...

I seem to remember the first game at Lynchburg he went up and he got a couple big hits and everyone was saying stuff like “This will be a short stay in Lynchburg”. Then after that first day he didn’t look so good. Now, he comes up to AA and he gets owned the first day and everyone’s freaking out and wondering if he’ll ever be any good as a major leaguer. Although this is a pretty small sample size, maybe he does belong in AA…

Pedro also has another error.

This is what concerns me more than the strikeouts and anything else. You can’t be a star in the National League if you can’t play defense.

He apparently played very well the first game despite having an error in that one, too. I know his defense is an issue, but errors aren’t really the best measure.

Does he have good range? I know range isn’t necessarily a huge issue at a corner infield spot, but Alvarez is a big guy.

Tony Pena for HOF

His defense is all reactionary – he mada a great play on a bunt in the first game, blew a routine play the second game for his first error and showed little lateral range on a ball hit towards the line. But he jumped out of his shoes to snag a line drive and made a strong throw on a soft ground ball just to the 3rd base side of the mound.

All great defensive players seem to see the play before it happens. This is one of the reasons I think he needs more time in the minors. If his bat was MLB ready and his defense adequate, then he could learn the rest. Until he is there the minors are the right place to learn.

Is TPfHOF pulling a Rickey Henderson?

i like what im seeing. Yeah he has two errors but let him iron things out in the minor leagues. No one is saying he will be up tomorrow. He also had a nice charge on a bunt yesterday. Stop fretting

Alvarez and Lincoln will both play in the Futures Game.

If it was me

I’d send Pedro to the Arizona Instructional League this winter to learn to play 1B.

He had a lot of time off after finishing school last year. Time to make it up.

And it’s not like the PBC has Ryan Howard or Mark Teixeira blocking Pedro at 1B.

The first time I saw a photo of Pedro’s lower body, I said to myself that this guy is a 1B.

The first time I saw a photo of Pedro’s lower body, I said to myself, “That’s Earl Campbell’s illegitimate son.”

Hmmm....

Or maybe he just thought: “I look after you. I do a lot for you. If you do not help me now, I say f*** you Jobu, I’ll do it myself.”

Can we please chill out...

…on the game-by-game scrutiny for a bit?

I know he’s a big part of the team’s future, but this is kind of like watching minute-by-minute fluctuations on the stock market, making yourself crazy. Check it every couple of weeks, and beyond that, try not to worry about it so much.

From now on, gang, we won’t let Rudolph join in any reindeer games.

What the hell else do we got to do with our time? This beats searching for internet porn.

Anything that’s a distraction from the big league club is ok with me. Just gotta remember — take it all with a Gibraltar size grain of salt.

Currently I’ve gotta live with silly news — like whether there’s any word on whether the team is going to suspend Gorkys after pulling him last night for arguing with the home plate umpire? Like NH said today, it’ll be a sign of success for the PBC when promotion of a player like Pedro Alvarez is off the front page and just listed under “Today’s Transactions.” We just ain’t there yet.

But That's No Fun

Then what are we supposed to do to make ourselves anxious and overly analytical for no good reason?

I Gotta Say One Thing

If this guy ever makes it to the big team, with his strikeout or homer style, he’s gonna be fun to watch.

How come we don’t get Pedro Alvarez Updates when he goes 0 for 5 with 3 strikeouts?
