In other more depressing news...

PG DK just reported that the Bucs have lost our on Cuthbert. He will reportedlty sign with KC for about 1.5 million dollars. Bummer. We better get Sano!

Yep, that's what scares me.

How much do you think Sano is going t o get now? Hope it doesn’t happen but I see us getting outbid here. Especially if we stick to our “internal valuation” system.

by Slick1 on Jun 27, 2009 6:33 PM EDT up reply actions

By all accounts...

…we like Sano plenty well enough to put in a high number on him. If they have the money to spend, there’s no doubt in my mind that they’ll spend for the kid.

by Vlad on Jun 27, 2009 6:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah...

I’m hoping that’s the reason we dropped out here. I’m guessing once Cuthbert’s number began to rise the FO decided to save the money for the Sano bidding.

On Gorzo...

I wonder if while Gorzo was with the big club…Kerrigan made some adjustments to something in Gorzo’s delivery? He had 7 K’s in 5 innings in his last start…now 10 in 4 tonight. He’s never put up large K numbers.

Only problem is that all those strikeouts tend to bring high pitch counts. He’s thrown 74 in 4 innings tonight. Considering he’s likely still getting stretched out…I only see 1 or 2 more innings out of him tonight.

I don’t have a problem with only 2 strikeouts. He’s only walked 1 man…and is economic enough on the pitch count that he has a small shot at a CG if Russell decides to let him go that far.

Let's see the Pirates fanpage on facebook's quotes in response to the possible Morgan trade...

Aside from the fact that they keep calling him Nyger.

“if the nats make this deal, i can see them turning that ship around and making a run at the pennant.”
“Good idea, trade away yet another good young player.”
“lets trade the guy that came to rebuild the franchise so that we can rebuild it. makes no sense….”

Morgan is the not the only outfielder the Nationals are looking at. They have interest in Braves outfielder Jordan Schafer. He began the season as Atlanta’s everyday center fielder, but was sent down after the team acquired Nate McLouth from the Pirates.

The Nationals have been unhappy with their outfielders for quite some time. They have come to the come to the conclusion that Adam Dunn and Josh Willingham belong in the American League as designated hitters and Elijah Dukes makes too many mental mistakes.

We should probably jump on a deal before they find someone else

Somebody explain to me why the Nationals are trying to be buyers right now. I know the Nats aren’t very happy with their outfield play, but they are terrible and should just finish out the season with what they have. A trade is going to require them to give up some of their good, young prospects, something the Nationals really can’t afford to do. They don’t need to be any trading. Instead, they just need to ride it out for the rest of this season, look to maybe sign some free agent OF in the offseason, and hold on to their young prospects.
