Coonelly talks about the draft, Sano, money, prospect development, and the importance of having sparkpluginess in his managers. Always nice to hear what actual baseball people have to say, even if they have to be somewhat guarded.

Sounds like McCutchen is going to be in the big leagues soon.

disagree

phrases like “at some point this season” and “beginning to demonstrate that he is ready to make his Major League debut” make me think more of a september callup than an impending appearance.

i just don’t see him getting the call until there is a spot that is solely his and i don’t see that happening until somebody gets hurt or we hopefully sell high on nyjmo. as much as i like the guy i think it’s purely a business decision that he ends up wearing another uniform in august.

I don’t know, Nyjer is currently slugging .344 as a corner outfielder. That sounds like an open spot to me, especially considering McCutchen brings at least equal defense.

Not to mention the fact that Moss isn’t exactly tearing it up. If McCutchen came up there would still be plenty of playing time for both of them.

“Both of them” = Moss and Morgan

Activate McCutchen, release Monroe. Play McLouth/McCutchen every day and have Moss/Morgan divide time based on whether a ground ball or fly ball pitcher is on mound. Play them at the same time (over Cutch) against elite right-handers like Lincecum.

Sounds like a plan to me.
