Nate McLouth traded to Braves
WOW
McLouth has been traded to the braves for three prospects. Shocked.

Tommy Hanson's name is being thrown around apparently so hopefully they got him. I guess this also gives us room to bring up Andrew McCutchen. I sm still a little in shock right now, but we'll have to see what the Buccos got in return.

Prospects in return
Charlie Morton, Gorkys Hernandez and Jeff Locke
Where did McLouth hit in your all's lineup?
He seems like the kind of player who could hit almost anywhere, but I think the #2 spot would be the best in Atlanta.
By the way, you all got three pretty good players, and I have always been fond of Gorkys. Him and McCutchen would be epic.
My two favorite football teams are the Bears and whoever's playing the Packers.
Line Up
Nate hit third for us most of the time, but he also led off for a while when he was platooning. He has above average speed so a lead off position, or second would work out nicely. I’m not sure who you guys have leading off on a regular basis, but he gets on base and can score runs for those behind him
I think McLouth would be an ideal 2-hole hitter for the Braves. With McLouth, I would say something like this for the Braves’ lineup:
1-Johnson
2-McLouth
3-Chipper
4-McCann
5-Escobar
6-Frenchy
7-Kotchman
8-Diaz
That’s just my opinion.
Where ever he hits, ya’ll got a great outfielder with a lot of pop and speed and better range and defensive skills than people give him credit for. He did patrol a big centerfield at PNC Park, although Turner Field’s is just as big if not bigger. It’s just a shame that we had to trade him in order to add some depth to our farm system because of our terrible former GM, Dave Littlefield. We have nothing thanks to his inept drafts and trades! I mean, we’ve had a top 5 pick in the draft ever single year and we took pitchers, but yet we don’t have any pitching! Thanks Dave! We really just started adding players and rebuilding our farm system at the beginning of last season. We’re on the right track with Pedro Alvarez, Jose Tabata, Hernandez (the OF we got from the braves), Morton, and Bryan Morris, but the former front office regime dug this organization such a deep hole and left the new regime with the task of digging out of it. Ahh, the agony of being a Pirates fan!!
Is anybody
As mad as me that we traded him away and it looks like we will trade more of our better players? Wtf?
It stings
I don’t doubt a lot of people here including many that have praised this trade aren’t a bit miffed at this trade. McLouth was our best player, and he got there by playing hard and being the model of what we as Pirate fans ask for.
But the hard truth is that Nate’s time in Pittsburgh was going to be short. I thought we’d have had him around until next years trade deadline. As it was the Bucs got 3 guys they need.
Morton gives us 4 good options in 3A to replace Snell and possibly Karstens in the rotation.
Hernandez helps fill the hole left from McCutchen’s promotion – remember Tabata’s on the DL in 2A
Locke (though 3+ years from the pro team) can fill a vacancy on the A+ team in Lynchburg, so we can backfill pitching to 3A after Snell is replaced. I think Uviedo may get the A+ cal to 2A, and Lincoln will go to 3A .
Emotionally it hurts to see our favorites go, but The Pirates unfortunately have a long way to go from being competitive, so while it was a hard decision to make it was also the smart decision.
The biggest loss here for the pirates is the leadership, and power (albeit limited) that Mclouth provided. Hopefully they can trade some of the other guys for some power players at the 2A/A+ level.

Terrible deal...
What good are getting prospects considering the Pirates’ organization and its history? No matter how good they end up, these players will only end up being traded away in their respective primes, ala McLouth, Aramis Ramirez, Jason Bay, and on and on and on.
It would be different if the Bucs’ ownership was doing this to improve the team. They aren’t. In fact, the strategy is to maintain a cheap roster no matter what because winning 70 or 80 or even potentially 90 games makes no difference to ownership. Making money is the lone (and despicable) goal.
MLB needs to step in at some point this year and force a sale to owners who will at least attempt to win.
Please don’t compare any trade the the Aramis Ramirez deal. That was a salary dump commanded by Kevin McClatchy, worst trade in pirate history.
This deal was to improve the team. You have McLouth way overrated. Everyone who is in love with McLouth needs to take a step back and look at the stats. The are almost identical with Adam LaRoches and I’m sure none of you would be upset if LaRoche was traded. And most respected baseball scouts say McLouths range in center is below average.
