If we were to trade jack...

Who is the most likely candidate?  The only team I can think of is Boston and I really can't see them giving us anybody that we would need even if we threw in another prospect.  Does anyone have any insight into this?  I get the feeling that he is definitely going to be moved by the end of the season I just don't know what to expect in return.  Do you think jack could land us a decent return or am I just dreaming?

well...

for one thing, that depends on your definition of “decent return.” Don’t expect more than maybe two players in return, neither one above AA level.

That said, yeah, Boston is the obvious destination, since both Lugo and Green have been atrocious defensively AND offensively. (If I go by UZR, replacing those two with Jack would be a 13 run improvement) The kicker there is that Boston might like having an upgrade from a minus glove and mediocre bat to a plus glove and mediocre bat, and it would also allow them to take their time bringing back Lowrie, but it means taking on Jack’s contract and also pretty much punting on Lugo. Not entirely sure they want to do that. Perhaps they’d give us something like Tejeda or Diaz along with (crazy I know) Junichi Tazawa? He’s decently far down the line…or Doubront.

Another possibility might be KC? Aviles etc have been pretty bad on offense and defense, and their system is decently pitcher-heavy…maybe they’ll give us Ka’aihue? That’s a reach, I know, but they DO already have Moustakas and Hosmer. Maybe Blake Wood and John Giavotella would be a more realistic return.

Don’t get too crazy, all you folks more MILB knowledgeable than me. Just throwing out some names that seem good enough to be worth getting but not so good we could never get them in return for Jack

Well, it depends on how desperate the Red Sox, or any tem, is for a SS. I don’t think NH is going to trade him just to trade him. I think we will get more back than what people think IF teams are desperate for a good SS.

Really? He’s offered to resign for less than his option and the team has made no effort to take him up on it. Face it, he’s done in Pittsburgh.

no he's really not

nobody is going to take his contract. he’s gonna play here forever. or at least this whole season..

I don’t think Wilson brings back anyone from a team’s top 10 prospects. If Huntington did manage to though, it would probably be his most impressive move.

if we trade jack their would be a riot near PNC Park resulting in the Nuttings have to be surrounded by cops anytime they go anywhere in the city. The guys left on the roster also my just stop putting any effort into winning since the clubhouse leader would be gone so we may win three games if we trade him.

Im pretty sure

Jack has never been a clubhouse leader…

I think the best candidate for a Jack trade...

…is a team that loses their startingSS to injury over the next two months.

I was talking to the people over at Over The monster

ad they said no way for trading for Jack Wilson, hat Lowrie has the same defensive ability and a better bat, I just don’t agree. I thinki they will trade for Jack though

What? Jed Lowrie is nowhere close to Jack in terms of defense. Offense? Yes. Defense? NO.

"they said no way for trading for Jack Wilson"

Jack Wilson is a better defensive shortstop than a lot of people want to give him credit for and, while his bat doesn’t produce much, he would be a perfect fit for a contending team in desperate need. (I just want to see sufficient return, to make the lousy SS play we would be stuck with for a while more bearable.)
