Charlie Morton to Start Wednesday Night
The Post-Gazette reports. Morton will take Tom Gorzelanny's place on the 25-man roster. The start was supposed to be Jeff Karstens', but Karstens pitched in the extra-inning game last night.

C’mon Morton. Force the management to kick Snell out of the rotation and move you into it permanently!

I’d think that Karstens would be gone first. Snell sometimes has good outings. Karstens always looks like crap.

I know this has nothing to do with the Morton news, but Michael Dubee tonight: 2 IP, 1 H, 4 K. It might not be that relevant right now, but this is by far the best trade the new regime has made so far. And for Andy Phillips?

Agreed.
I don’t think Dubee will be a star, but he looks like a ML starter. In a trade for Andy Phillips, straight up? He’s a steal.

Is that what the FO has decided for him?
I thought he was just being used as a reliever?
So you think 25 percent of the country is retarded!? Yea, totally. Atleast 25 percent. Well lets do a sample. There are 4 of us and you're retarded. Thats 25 percent. -South Park; Mystery of the Urinal Deuce.

coming from a Braves fan
i think this is a rare start us Braves fans will wanna see the oposing pitcher rather than our own. Charlie was really good at times last season, even tho his W-L and era wasnt too good.
the big reason im so curious about his start is it’ll be relatively pressure free (besides facing his former team of course). last season, the Braves called up Morton about 3 days after Tim Hudson, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz got hurt and were all pronounced finished for the season. He went from AAA ball to our #2 starter.
AB: Jeff Francoeur
Pitching: Any pitcher in MLB
Runners: Escobar at 3rd, Chipper at 2nd, McCann at 1st.
Pitch 1: In play, out(s)

Will be Curious...
To see how he does…of course Karsten’s first start was nearly a no-no wasnt it?
RE: Dubee – At what point does he get bumped up to Altoona?

Since D-Day (Dominican) isn’t until July, nothing could make me happier than seeing Chuckie M come out gangbusters for 7 innings against the Braves. We need something positive.

I really hope we got a steal for Andy Phillips for Dubee, but I’m not going to get too fired up about him pitching lights out at A+ ball.
Maybe he’ll be like Rick Reed.

Maybe he'll be like Capps?
Capps spent 20 innings in AA before making the jump.
I agree about not getting fired up, I’m just saying, a strictly-reliever with his K/BB ratio might as well be pushed fast and tested soon.

I agree with what you say.
I remember Rick Reed just being happy to make an A club roster the year he found “it,” and then he flew through the system to Pittsburgh. We need all the pitching we can get.
