Still think McCutchen is the one regular who most needs the day off.

His nickname is “Cutch” not “Crutch,” JR.

(Watch him go 5 for 5 now tonite just to show me up.)

the speedy Moss

or the defensive anemic Young

When are we going to trade Cutch now

Jeff Salazar has played CF for Indy since Cutch came up and should be available tonight for the PBC.

Coaching is very inconsistent. In baseball sometimes you need time to get going. and when you do get going you need to keep going and not get benched.

With the current NHL salary cap and how that works, what some teams are doing now is signing players to these very long term contracts, where the players would get a similar total figure to a deal with less years, but with the longer deal the team’s cap hit will be a lot less.

Then in the latter half or so of the contract, the team can either buy out the rest of the contract to get some of the cap space back, or if the player is over 35 and retires, I’ve heard the rest of the contract is either just nulled or it at least doesn’t count against the cap. One of those.

Of course this is mostly theory, we’ll have to see how these type of contracts actually end up working out in the long run/

by Schide on Jul 1, 2009 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

So kinda like the NFL

where they give guys 5 year contracts and then buy them out after like 2?

by UtesFan89 on Jul 1, 2009 6:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I guess

Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention, as per the TSN article “The contract is front-loaded with about $59.3 million paid out over the first eight years, and $3.5 million total for the final four years.” So it’s almost like they are giving him that eight year deal for almost $60 mil, which is a bit more reasonable.

But yeah, I’m sure that NHL GMs are trying to take as many cues as they can from the NFL in terms of salary caps workarounds that can be done similar in both leagues.

by Schide on Jul 1, 2009 7:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You should do therapy

I had arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder in December. It heals just fine at home but I didn’t get any endurance back in it until I started to go to PT. It sucks, but now I can play tennis again.

by thecheeseisblue on Jul 1, 2009 7:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Depends.

I did 3 weeks of PT & Ultrasound Cortisone because my OS wanted me to see if it would get better (and because I’m a p_ _ _y about getting a shot & wouldn’t let him give me cortisone), without surgery, then 3 weeks later declared that cortisone wouldn’t do any good, and that I needed the surgery.

I was all like, “I could’ve had this 3 weeks ago & be ready to golf by the middle of August!”

Grrrr.

Same thing for me. A month of therapy, then they have me get an MRI to find out my labrum is torn and I need surgery. Went to the doctor in September and actually got the surgery in December. Just went back for my other shoulder and they tried to put me through the same thing, I said no just do an MRI.

This kind of stuff just stirs up trouble. Jack is a vet. One that was acquired via a trade.

Even Jack has to realize that NyjMo isn’t much of a player. At least not much of a potential player at 29 to improve too much. I wonder if this trade just “blindsided” him, and he didn’t have a prepared comment regarding it.
