Yeah, much more than that and the load times get really slow.

Another factor is that I have to be there for a new thread to go up, unless I suspect beforehand that it will go over. I actually haven’t spent much time watching games at the computer in the past couple weeks, so there haven’t been many new threads even though some of them had enough comments.

Thanks...

for giving heads up just before the thread change. Makes it a lot easier…especially if you tab away from the thread for a minute.

We have scored 7 runs

in the past 4 games against the cubs…not including tonight, ridiculous

these close games are where we need a power hitter(s)

That’s the recommendation that was handed down to me by my SB Nation overlords. A lot of blogs were running huge comment threads before this one, so I defer to them. Also, there really isn’t a number that wouldn’t ultimately be arbitrary.

Steven Jackson coming in with runners on the corners and one out. I guess he is our designated ground ball specialist.

3 runs (at least) with 6 outs to go…impossible to overcome if you are the PBC

by Green_Wave on Jul 1, 2009 9:11 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I was wondering why he didn’t. It was an easy seventh and he was due up first in the bottom of the eighth…

by shayborg on Jul 1, 2009 9:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It's not Steven's fault....

He’s worried because NyjMo isnt’ in left to back him up. And its the curse of Lastings – see my rap above.

Grr. That’s what happens when you bat someone like Jones third.

by shayborg on Jul 1, 2009 9:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Not to mention Pearce and Young pushing pins all night into the head of their Garret Jones dolls.

by WstCstBucco on Jul 1, 2009 9:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

G Jones is a whoppin'

big lad. He’d make a great target for fielders at first. Hopefully, his hitting will pan out. He reminds me of a (much bigger) Adam LaRoche standing at the plate except that G Jones actually looks like he is ready to swing the bat….

by Trogluddite on Jul 1, 2009 9:28 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

But Mario

has such a pretty swing, what will ever do without that gracing the lineup?

But Mario has

such a slow lazy swing, it’s hard to believe he’s not just shoo’ing away flys. I do find it amazing how far he hits the darn ball on occasion

I didn’t think so, but that 4th pitch looks like it traveled about 50 feet.

I didn’t know trading Nyjer Morgan, Nat McLouth, Sean Burnett, and Eric hinske was a dismantling
(look at the poll on the page)
href=“http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/index”

by Green_Wave on Jul 1, 2009 9:35 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Nate

not Nat, though that would be a cool first name

by Green_Wave on Jul 1, 2009 9:35 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, we traded...

1 below average outfielder whose performance should lead to multiple drug tests for halucigens – I like NyjMo but I don’t recall him hitting above .240ish in the past

1 older utility payer

1 above-average but not great center fielder

and

1 top draft pick who finally met his upside being a left-handed one inning specialist

quite the dismantling

by Trogluddite on Jul 1, 2009 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not to mention Rob Meyer’s new article that “Morgan = Dunn” and that the “sabremetric community” has a “blind spot” cause they don’t see that fact.

by WstCstBucco on Jul 1, 2009 9:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nice innings by Hanrahan and Meek. Shame about that other one, though.
