Sanchez throws no-hitter

The only baserunner was allowed on an error, which is too bad for him.

Game recap

From what I've heard, Sanchez is rumored to be the main trade piece if our Sanchez is traded to the Giants.  He's supposed to be a talented, hard-throwing pitcher with not very good command, and was just recalled from the minors to take Randy Johnson's place.

Sanchez's stats

As you can see from his stats, he strikes out a lot of people but allows a lot of hits and walks.  He's also a bit old for our rebuilding, being 26.  Personally, I think its very nice he got a no-hitter, but he seems like a better version of Daniel Cabrera, which isn't good enough to be the centerpiece of a trade for an All-Star.  ( I know the Pirates have to have arepresentative, but he's probably good enough to make it on his own merit)

Also, I doubt the Giants are going to trade him right after he threw a no-hitter, or at least it will artificially inflate hit value. I know the Giants aren’t the Pirates, but if we traded away a guy who just threw a no-hitter, the fans would go insane.

He actually was just recalled from the pen to make the start tonight after Randy Johnson went on the DL. If I’m Neal Huntington, I take a step back right now, and wait for him to make another start or 2. This way he’ll either pitch poorly and lower his value, or he will prove he can consistently pitch well in the majors. But his value really cant get much higher than it is now

If Juan “Stone Hands” Uribe wasn’t playing 3B, he would’ve had a perfect game. That was about as routine a grounder as you can ask for.

Sanchez

I heard the Sanchez for Sanchez trade was dead but hopefully this can re-start them and I think the Giants will trade Sanchez soon because of the old “buy low, sell high” philosophy

Well if nothing else...

…maybe the boo birds will stop complaining about how Jonathan Sanchez isn’t quality talent to acquire for Freddy.

Im pretty sure

this doesnt actually make him a better pitcher. He had a good night, but looking at his stats this year and in his career, as I’ve already said, paint a picture of a pitcher that allows far too many baserunners to be successful.
