He should have stayed in Tahoe. It’s much nicer. Single deck blackjack on weekdays and the lake is beautiful. Reno is a good hour or hour and 1/2 away, back to SF. But the airport at Tahoe sucks, so maybe Ben was flying in and out of Reno.

He only has what, 60 or so AB in the majors this year? Against 3800 mediocre minor league AB, that looks extremely fluky. I’m loving what he’s done so far but I’ve got to think he’s going to come back to earth.
he certainly isn’t going to stay on the pace he is on, but he could drop off a good bit and still be one of the top 3 or 4 hitters on this team.

As of today...
Gorzo has 2 years and 98 days service…including 24 days this year. He cannot meet the “Super Two” requirement if he doesn’t spend more than 86 days on the roster this season…per the CBA. that means anything less than 62 days on the roster the remainder of the season is fine. After about August 6th…if he gets called up…he CANNOT get a “Super Two” designation.

Dejan Kovacevic: Only the Pirates know that. As mentioned in the coverage a couple of times — and I assume you’re citing this — Gorzelanny needs 42 more days of major league service time to qualify for arbitration. Thus, if he is recalled in September, the Pirates avoid that.
One of the requirements for “Super Two” status is that the player be on the roster for 86 days in the season preceding arbitration. Gorzelanny CANNOT meet that requirement without spending 62 days more on the roster. Unfortunately…that word seems to not get through to people.
This is one of those rare times...
where a save can be awarded with a 5 run lead…if Karstens finishes the game. If a pitcher finishes a game by pitching at least 3 innings…it doesn’t matter how big the lead is.
