Giants vs Pirates Overflow

Lincecum is destroying the Pirates, until the 6th when they managed to put together an error and a 2B with a couple productive outs for two runs.  An absolutely terrible defensive game for the Pirates.    Could be a new K high for Lincecum (previous high is 13).   At least it won't be three straight shut outs.  Really not much more to say.  Must get to seventy five words. six, five, four, three, two, one.

It should realistically be 2-2

if you get rid of a couple defensive mishaps

Great play, DY.

He’s quietly contributing on both sides of the ball…no one talks about the fact that he’s one of our better hitters.

I know Moss swings at the first pitch a lot, but in that situation I dont mind it. Lincecum is trying to get ahead and then throw his change cuz he wants to get this game over with

I didn't really mind Mario before

afterwards, I was thinking Jones.

Though, while I was sick of Mario’s bat and wanted it gone, I was pretty sure there would be issues afterwards. I just felt that trading him for some prospects was the best thing for the team… though I didn’t foresee his bad season so far.

i hope they dont flip flop Jones and Pearce 1B/LF all the time…they have the rest of the yr to figure it out but just have some consistency in doing it

I thought Pearce would replace him, but I probably underestimated the height thing. I have a hard time seeing now how that won’t be a huge problem going forward. I like Pearce’s bat, though.

Height isn't an issue at first base...

if you have infielders that can throw halfway decent. Steve Garvey was no taller than Pearce (5’10")…and Pete Rose was an entire inch taller…and they played 1B for a LONG time.

If it wasn’t an issue, there would be more sub 6’1’’ players there besides Pearce and Prince Fielder.

There were at least two throws a taller guy could have gotten easily last night; one pulled Pearce off the bag, another almost did. It’s not like Wilson or LaRoche have bad arms here, either.

This is a quality major league lineup we are putting out there.
