I had to create an Excel spreadsheet just to be able to track all of the players going/coming. So far, the only trade I'm upset over is the Jason Bay deal in which everyone got what they wanted but us. I really think NH got taken to the woodshed on that one but the rest of his deals sort of make sense and I'm willing to support him. However, I will watch closely to see how he spends the money saved by not having to pay LaRoche, Sanchez, Wilson, and Snell next year. Assuming he properly reinvests the money then I guess I'm ok with his deals. I just wish he hadn't traded Snell who I believe will prosper.

speaking of Snell heres his comments on the bucs future
“Honestly, I think they’re headed in a good direction,” Snell said before he headed to some Seattle destination in the Jack Wilson deal — he hadn’t heard from the Mariners whether to report to its major-league or Class AAA club. He named Charlie Morton and Lastings Milledge as some key acquisitions. “You got … good core guys, young core guys, that they’re building around. I think they’re going to be real competitive within the next year or so. I think they’re doing a great job, it’s just the way people see it.”

Nice of him to be classy on his way out the door.
I hope he does well in Seattle.

Snell had said recently he did not want to pitch in Pittsburgh again. If the Pirates had recalled him and made him start for them, I have the feeling he would not have done well. He was done with this team and I think mgmt was done with him. I can easily see him doing well for Seattle, but I think his days in Pittsburgh were gone, so I have no problem with the FO getting rid of him.
As for the money saved, look for some of it to go towards signing draft picks from this year above slot (Cain, Dekker, Von Rosenberg, Dodson, and others)

Weird enough
The Bay deal is the only one I didn’t like at the time. We had already shipped out Nady and got back a bunch of arms and then Hansen and Moss just seemed to me to be 2 guys who don’t have much upside and won’t figure it out anyways, which looks like it could be true. I liked Andy, but he really needs to step it up or he is just a placeholder for Pedro. I didn’t like seeing Snell, Wilson, or Burnett go but that was more just because they were my favorite Pirates. The problem with Snell isn’t that they dealt him for that package, but that they let things get so bad where he pretty much had to be dealt.
As for stuff you forgot, let’s not forget the negative Salomon Torres deal, the nice Evan Meek pick, Steven Jackson and MVP pickups and the Paulino + Bautista for JJ + Diaz deals.

Not all of that money is being saved, keep in mind they sent cash to Boston and Seattle to help offset some contracts
