I believe in Garrett Jones.
Pirates’ lineup:
1. McCutchen, CF
2. Wilson, SS
3. Moss, RF
4. Adam LaRoche, 1B
5. Jones, LF
6. Andy LaRoche, 3B
7. Vazquez, 2B
8. Jaramillo, C
9. Morton, P
Marlins’ lineup:
1. Coghlan, LF
2. Bonifacio, 3B
3. Ramirez, SS
4. Cantu, 1B
5. Hermida, RF
6. Uggla, 2B
7. Ross, CF
8. Baker, C
9. Volstad, P
DK Says:
“Yet another rain-free rain delay. The Marlins just announced this one will wait until after an imminent storm passes through. These things never take long down here.”
Wasn't there a bee-related delay yesterday somewhere?

Surprised there wasn’t more of a buzz about it. That really bugs me…

Sportsline Game Center
shows Eric Fryer on the bench… how did I miss his jump from low-A with the Yanks to our ML bench?
And now this:
Not a drop of rain has fallen, but a new start time of 6:40 was just announced. Apparently, it will take them that long to dry off the dry field.
Well,
they beat the Brewers. So we remain just 6 back.
Can’t decide if that’s good/bad.

Technically
we’re still alive.
Like they say, it’s not over until Freddy/Jack/Mario/Capps/Grabow (or at least a couple of them) have been traded the fat lady sings.

I was hoping it was trade related, but Dejan (FWIW) said he wasn’t being discussed with the Twins

Hoping it was trade related? Why? Who’s going to fill in when he leaves? If he gets traded, 2B is going to be UGLY.
You mean...
other than Freddy tweaking his back getting out of a cab?
Yes! My strategy worked. I said Moss hitting third was a joke and then promplty followed that by saying I hope Moss proves me wrong by hitting a HR and a double. Well, he’s halfway there! I’m a genius.
Dammit, why didn’t you say he should prove you wrong by hitting 3 HRs and driving in 8 runs?

Hey we just got 1 in 1 inning…
(Anyone read xkcd? We’ll have 9 by the end of the game!)

Slight edit
if we extrapolate it out, we’ll have 45 runs after the game, not 9.

So...
it seems like Yunel Escobar could be had.
It might cost a bit, and I know he’s struggling right now (and his head isn’t really in the game… see Craig Monroe’s best moment as a Pirate), but is it worth a look?

Here comes the rain

Geez, Morton can’t catch a break. Hamstrings and now rain delays. Will he ever make a start longer than 5 innings with the Bucs?
I was worried
that he’d screw up his hammy again IN the rain before they delayed the game.

Hanrahan
I normally don’t place too much stock in coaching at the mlb level, but I think Kerrigan will help Hanrahan. Seeing him pitch, it looks like it is a matter of getting him to trust his stuff and not try to overthrow. Look for Hanrahan’s velocity to come down to 92-94, maybe a little lower and you will see positive results.
I was at the yard the other night when Ohlendorf pitched. Mostly 88-90 with 93-94 on maybe 4 or 5 pitches – all strike 3 swinging. Kerrigan is a shrink, not a pitching coach. If he gets Hanrahan to buy in, it will turn out good for the bucs.
