Grabow Soon to Go?
According to SI, the Pirates and the Cubs are in deep discussions regarding John Grabow and "another pitcher may also go to chicago."

I gotta think that would be Tom Gorzelanny right? Not Matt Capps or Evan Meek?
The Cubs seem to prefer Grabow over Joe Beimel according to Ken Rosenthal. Do the Cubs have anyone of note really? Their system is pretty thin if I recall and I doubt they would part with anyone on the 25 man roster.

Possibly...
jeff samardzija? ss ryan flaherty, rhp andrew cashner. possibles, but all 3 are in the cubs top 10 prospects and i’m not very confident that they would part with any of those for grabow alone.

Samardzija has a no trade clause doesn’t he? It was part of his agreement to sign with the Cubs instead of an NFL team.

Already discussing it...
…on the main page. Could be something bigger with Vitters/Duke maybe…..

Their system is mostly B and C guys.
But since there’s no way that a situational lefty brings more than a B guy in return, that’s not an issue.
I like a couple of their MIF in the lower minors, Hak-Ju Lee and Starlin Castro. Some good pitchers as well. Cashner would probably be too much to expect for Grabow, but we could maybe get someone like Chris Carpenter (the other one).

Via Kevin Goldstein's twitter:
“Cubs move RHP Chris Carpenter up to Double-A; solid amount of buzz on him.”

Ha! We’ll get our OWN Chris Carpenter, and learn how he works. Then, we’ll BEAT him.

According to DK, they are discussing Gorzo, too

10 percent
If they move Grabow/ Gorzo and their salaries the Bucs 2009 salary going forward will be 10 percent of the Yankees and close to half of the Marlins. The Marlins! Holy smokes, that is an unbelievable statistic.
Here’s hoping that the castoffs we’re getting will amount to more than the loveable losers they are replacing.
