I hope he wasn't promoted too soon.

We’ll find out if his current hot streak was just that — a hot streak.

Me too

I love that they are rewarding him, but at the same time I would not have minded at all, probably even preferred, if they had kept him at Altoona for the rest of the season. I do not see any reason to rush him. Milledge is finally up and Cutch is in center. Jones and Moss can hold down the fort until Jose is ready.

He’s already repeating the level and is apparently not having a lot of trouble with it. It’ll be good to get him a taste of AAA before he spends all of next year up there.

He's ready for the move

He’s hit over. 300 in 80-plus games at Altoona. Besides, they’re out of outfielders in Indy. They need him badly.

Yea they are very slim at Indy so this does make a lot of sense. Totally forgot he repeated this level already so I guess this is def a good move. Hopefully he can continue to improve and possibly see time in the bigs as early as next season

This doesn’t concern me is because of how low his K rate is. At age 20, he’s striking out only 11% of the time in AA. He needs to develop some power (which he’s been showing a little of recently), but there’s no reason he can’t do that against higher level pitching. I think he had a pretty low BABIP at the beginning of the season, which made him look worse than he was. I think his approach is refined enough to advance.

Great news

Hope he continues to progress. He’s been through a tough season with his injury and his wife going Lindbergh and all. He seems like a good kid and a talented ballplayer.

Here’s to seeing him in the ’Burgh soon.

Mini-Manny?

If Tabata is really a mini-Manny, then NH should get him mini-steroids. Just small enough to have him hit 20 HRs, and still be undetectable.

In all seriousness, Tabata is such a good hitter, and he was worthy of a promotion after tearing up AA for his time last year (.343) and this last month. Hopefully he can stay healthy, and not develop a Doumit reputation.

This sucks!

Don’t get me wrong I am happy for him but I was really looking forward to seeing him, Pedro, Gorkys, and Alderson in Altoona. O well, I guess I will just have to wait till they bring back winning baseball to PNC.
