Dinesh Patel and Rinku Singh Make Pro Debuts

And acquit themselves pretty well while pitching for rookie-league Bradenton: Patel pitched a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout, and Singh allowed one run and had one strikeout in an inning.

These guys' situation is obviously extremely unusual, so it's easy to see why the Pirates have mostly treated them as a unit--signing both of them, assigning them to the same team, and so on. Reading their still-excellent blog, it's clear that they both benefit from having the other around. There might also be some sort of public-relations benefit to having them both make their debuts in the same game. But from now on, it might be nice, if they're ever going to be pitchers rather than mere curiosities, for them to have separate careers. Hopefully they won't necessarily pitch on the same day from now on.

Keeping Them Together Might Be Good For Now

Their English isn’t so great. And it’s not the same as with a Spanish-speaking player, because there are always other Spanish-speakers around in the minors. Not so for Hindi-speakers. I’m pretty sure they’re the only two Hindi-speakers in the minor leagues anywhere. So, keeping them together for now until their English gets better might be good. It’s not like they’re gonna break into the majors in 2010 anyway.

Gotta like their attitudes about winning first over how they did if nothing else. Although I supposed there’s a chance they were told to say that…well, either way.

they seem to have good mechanics , for guys that are new to pitching

I don’t have the names down yet, hopefully someday i will know the difference.
I only saw each throw 1 pitch, but was very impressed with the mechanics they displayed.

The lefty reminds me alot of the motion of Marte
The righty reminds me of , don’t laugh, Dock Ellis.

Got to give quite a bit of credit to the coaching staff, and the instruction these 2 have gotten so far.

I know it’s 1 game, but they did look like REAL pitchers, based on their mechanics.
