Morris suspended
DK just posted a note about the PIrates suspending Bryan Morris indefinately for unprofessional behavior.
I saw this
and would like to know just what he did. Hopefully, it has something tangentially to do with being overly competitive rather than simply being a creep.
"Never mistake motion for action." - Ernest Hemingway
It's odd
He pitched three shutout innings, but then the game got rain suspended for the day. I believe he came back out the next day and faced 3 batters who all reached before he was lifted from the game. Maybe something happened after he was lifted from the game.
Reading Lynchburg media on web...
not helpful at all. He faced the 3 batters in the 4th before it started raining Thursday night. He didn’t come back and pitch on Friday.
The only thing that was really mentioned about the 4th inning was a ball skipping by Alex Presley that allowed Frederick to take the lead. Since the umpires were mentioned by Stark…sort of wonder whether maybe he felt like he was getting squeezed on balls and strikes…maybe after the hit that went by Presley…he went off on the umpire about costing him the lead. Just a guess.
Over at OBN...
one of the members said he got a report that Morris reportedly threw a ball at an umpire when the game went into the rain delay.
Unrelated…Owens is scheduled to pitch Monday for Lynchburg. Reportedly on a strict 80 pitch/5 innings leash.
If you are referring to Owens...
that means the Pirates are watching workload very closely with him.
If you are referring to Morris…I don’t know what to make of the situation…other than if it occurred…it’s unacceptable behavior…and the Pirates would be correct to suspend him. Although…with the numbers he’s had so far this season…it might be addition by subtraction. And a free trip to fall ball in Bradenton…or a release.
Nah,
can’t release the kid for a stupid mistake. But I just wonder what “repeatedly threw a ball at an umpire” means. If it weren’t so stupid it would be kind of comical.
Two little letters make a difference
Or I at least hope so — there are a lot of different ways one might throw a ball at somebody.
"Never mistake motion for action." - Ernest Hemingway
Looks like the best way to get a night off for the Pirates...
is to have a good game. With a few exceptions. Like Jones being 3 for his last 20.
Five wasted at bats
that might contribute towards an evaluation of Pearce.
"Never mistake motion for action." - Ernest Hemingway
One has to think
that Pearce is not going to get that chance after all. Clement is coming in a week and that will be that.
How the hell
Is Chase D’Arnaud already back in the lineup in Lynchburg tonight?
DL's in the minors...
are only 7 days…not 15.
No it's not that
They made it sound like he would be out perhaps for the rest of the year though, and now poof he’s back.
Maybe they sat Pearce.....
because they are so pissed off by Burnett’s comments, that they are playing the platoon (lefty last night so Pearce, righty tonight so Moss—I know he doesn’t have a big platoon split) split because they are DYING to sweep the Nats.
Yea I’m joking, (kinda).
Edge....
Very nice article in today’s Washington Times on Milledge. Some excellent and seemingly very mature quotes by Edge.

I thought I posted this already but couldn’t see it, so if I duplicated, my apologies.
M&Ms
wasn’t that what someone came up with for Morgan/McCutchen right before Morgan was traded?

blacked out
Ihave to watch masn this weekend (philly market, go figure) and Dibble is an idiot. Every time Milledge does something wrong ,or hustles and misses ball (last night) ,or is positioned way off the line for dead pull A Dunn and can’t quite get to it, Dibble crows THATS WHY WE TRADED YA but he didnt say much about the 2 rbi singles that beat his lowly gnats. IDIOT!!!

Don't let him
Get to you. He’s always like that. He has a serious chip on his shoulder considering how bad the team is,and constantly uses “we”.
I see few games
Indeed, right now I am listening to the radio feed on XM. My cable provider (suck Cox) can’t seem to deliver any Center Ice games in HD, much less normaI broadcast quality, so my viewing opportunities are limited to a few WGN games and the Assos’ broadcast on Fox Southwest. Which is a long way to a question: Has anybody had any experience with the MLB streaming video package. I’m considering it, but would like a little feedback first.

I had it two years ago. It was good then and I heard they improved it. It’s well worth the money….and it’s convenient if you’re traveling and would like to watch a game….all you need to do is find a computer.

I've had it
For like three years, and it gets a little better each year (I also have the TV package). They have dual feeds now so you can always watch the Pirates feed if you want on the computer. I also have an iPhone and you can now watch every game on there too.
Beyond that, I personally don’t like their “HD” quality stream they provide and use the old Windows Media Player plugin rather than the “Nex-Def” one they recommend for top quality.
I think I'm going to give it a shot
I want to see these young guys.

Alderson
1st inning…2 K’s…but a run (single, SB, single).
I got a homerun ball almost right there from Carlos Lee in 2005
I remember i threw it back at Jason Bay
Dusty Baker strikes again.....
Volquez
His pitch counts don’t look too unreasonable to me…probably just bad luck. Dusty should be fired for batting Taveras and Gonzalez 1-2, though.
Pedro's eye...
must be improving…2 walks so far tonight.
Yeah
Maybe he finally stopped pressing. It wasn’t so much his eye was it? I thought he always drew walks, it was just he swung and missed a lot. I guess he’s laying off more bad pitches either way.
Oh yeah....
And you don’t walk to the majors……
I see a lot of SEC baseball
and it is a free-swinging league. Hopefully, some instruction will disabuse him of that tendency.
"Never mistake motion for action." - Ernest Hemingway
I read that he was having trouble recognizing offspeed and breaking pitches and/or adjusting his swing to hit them.
He has been turning fastballs around since day one of training camp.
Yankees...about to possibly get some real bad news.
Listening to the Curve game…sounds like their (Trenton’s) 19 year old catcher…Jesus Montero may have just broken his throwing hand.
That ball was smokeddddd
Good for the Lil Orphan, maybe he’s getting away from that cold streak.
THATS WHY WE TRADED FOR YA
I assume he didn’t say that.
CUTCHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Too bad more men weren’t on.
At least
V-Squared is an All-Star pitcher.
Wait, he’s not?

Milton Bradley
Would call that “fake hustle”
Frickin' awesome....
From the interview and his first seven at bats and hustle. How can you not be enthusiastic?
Hey ya'll
What did I miss?

Cutch going yard twice
a RBI triple for LaRoche
Milledge with a 2 RBI double
and Mossome with a RBI on a bloop single

VV can’t pitch, there’s a shocker. Hopefully Hart will step in nicely. Thanks for the update, just got off work!

Good enough for him. Bullpen needs to get the next 4.
Surprised
JR did not start Maholm on schedule.

And a run scores
after stealing 2nd, a runner scores on a single to the LF.

If so, I’m just curious how he looks from a first hand perspective

If he didn't follow through like an idiot
He could have fielded that ball cleanly to get Morgan.
At least, it would have had more of a chance.
He's on pace
To get around the 194-195 K seasons he had in Cincy. So no, pretty much the same.
So much for no better catch!

Indy update
down 1-0 in the 6th, they load the bases with no outs. Argenis Diaz grounds into a DP (pitcher to home to 1st), and Bixler Ks so they get nothing.

Nothing ironic
about a guy who plays on the worst team in the league calling another team an “embarassment”
In other former Pittsburgh baseball player news...
Ian Snell was just recalled to Seattle and is probable to start tomorrow.
Man that was a great throw by Dukes. And thank god Dunn has the mobility of a hibernating bear

Wow, I’m very pleased with his numbers thus far. Is he still pitching?

3 HRs
Has Cutch always shown power or is this abnormal?
These are going a little bit longer
than most of his hits the first part of the year. He’s had a fair amount of doubles and deep fly outs.
